Hello,

just looking at booking hotel for our Disneyland trip. Can someone tell us if it is worth it to spend a few extra bucks a night on Disney view instead of highway? is it a noisy hotel?

For reference purposes, we stayed at Port Orleans in WDW and thought it as just great value for money...

Thanks!

i'd say no, it's not worth the extra $$. you can't see much of the park from the hotel. i've stayed there 2 or 3 times. the highway noise wasn't bad. just make sure you're not next door to the ice machine!

How much time do you anticipate gazing out your window? Personally, it would not be worth the extra $ for us unless we didn't plan on staying in the park for fireworks.

We just stayed there last weekend and were in bldg 2 - very close to the freeway. The freeway noise was only noticeable when we were outside. I think we only heard an interior door close once during our 3-day stay. Once we were inside our room, it was very quiet.

We've stayed there twice w/a disney view. I personally think the difference is worth it, unless you have a really tight budget OR if you'll be there when they aren't having fireworks. When DD and I stayed there last weekend, we walked back to the hotel and saw the entire fireworks display except for a few of the low level ones. It was so nice to sit there in our robes and watch from the balcony. I thought it was fun and the fireworks were beautiful. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, those rooms are also the only ones with microwaves.
So, for us, totally worth it.

There are a few rooms in building 2 (IIRC) that have microwaves. From what I was told (Again, IIRC) those rooms are in the middle of that building and do not have balconies. If you want a balcony and microwave, then Disney view in Build1 is worth the extra money.
Here's a link to my building one pictures from January: In it, there are pictures of our view from previous stays on the 7th floor (top floor) and 3rd floor if you would like to see the kind of view we had. I think the 7th floor view is worth the extra money. At the time we stayed there, only the 3rd floor had microwaves so they charged extra for those rooms as well. Now I've heard they're adding microwaves to all the rooms facing Disney. (Worth it to me!) From what I've heard, alot of people go down to the pool and watch the fireworks.

Curious about this as well as I have booked one of these rooms for October. Can't wait! :woohoo:

In november we stayed in a disney view room. The rooms are bigger than the standard room so you aren't just paying extra for the view it's also for more space. We probably won't book the disney view room again but only because I want the ones with microwave next time. The view is very nice and it was wonderful to watch the fireworks off the balcony. The fireworks were so loud they were rattling our windows lol but it was a great view and felt like the fireworks were just for me. Also if you have a disney view room you shouldn't hear the freeway, we certainly didn't.

Other than the ones mentioned previously, the Disney view rooms are the only ones WITH a micro. I agree no freeway noise. We were on the 6th floor and heard almost nothing. They rooms are definitely bigger, too, than the regular rooms. Especially nice if you're traveling with more than 4 people, or if you need a rollaway for some reason.
I'd recommend the extra $20 per night even more if you're staying longer, as then you'd really get the use of the micro and the extra space will "feel" even better.

I think you're mistaken, it's the office rooms (I can't remember the specific name) that has the microwaves. They are actually a little more money than the disney view room and I can guarentee you we did NOT have a microwave in our disney view room. If we wanted a microwave room we had to pay more than the disney view room. We were on the top floor of building one facing disneyland and there was def. no microwave.

XTinabell, I've heard that Hojos is adding microwaves to all of their Disney facing rooms. (Read that on another board.) When I stayed there last year, other than the Home Office rooms, no others had the microwaves. Apparently this is changing. I stayed in a room with a microwave this past January, but it was on the 3rd floor where the Home Office rooms were, so I can't say for sure if any of the others do have microwaves, just that I've heard on other boards that they are either adding them or have already added them to all the DL facing rooms. I've read a few posts on a couple of boards in which people have said they stayed in a high floor, DL facing room and had a microwave.

DIsneySuiteFreak is correct on the info. that was given about microwaves currently being placed in all of the disney view rooms. Lorealle (from Hojos) stated this on a thread on another board. :)

There is a long thread here on Disboards about the switch, too. They are now the Premium rooms. (I don't think they have "Home Office" rooms any longer, but I'm not absolutely certain, as I'm unsure what else the home office rooms had.) They are upgrading all Disney view rooms in Tower 1 to Premium (don't know about other towers). Future goals include family suites. From what I understand from a conversation with another family, they started the conversion with the previous Home office rooms and then moved on from there. On Jan. 23 we stayed 6th floor, Premium room rate, and had micro and fridge. On 2/2, DD and I stayed 6th floor (different room) and had micro and fridge.

We think the Premium, Disney view rooms are worth the price increase and have stayed in them 3 times, and in building 2 once. We do end up watching the fireworks from our balcony several times it seems on each trip, and it's very nice, especially with children that don't stay up late and may not get to see fireworks otherwise. We also really like that the 2nd sink is just outside the bathroom in these rooms, where both sinks are inside the bathroom in building 2. The split sinks really gives flexibility with a family staying in a hotel room, I think.

I'll back up the other comments that I've read that they're adding microwaves to all the Premium Disney view rooms, so that may also be an advantage that makes it worth the money to some.

I had the same questions thanks for this post I will book the bigger room , the sink alone sounds worth the money we are not morning people and more room to get ready quick the better!

I confess, I do happen to pay the extra $$ for a Disney view. I can't help it. It just adds to the magic a bit when staying off property. Do we spend a lot of time in our room enjoying the view?.....no.....Do we watch fireworks from our balcony at HOJO instead of watching them from in the park?.....no.....but we still pay the extra for the view, and we really enjoy it during the brief periods that we're awake in our room.:goodvibes

You know thats probably the same situation as us . If I can look out the window and see DL I will be happy , but we are probably in the park all day and will see the fireworks there if not on rides. Even if it is first thing I look out at in the morning and last thing at night its worth the $20 a night extra.

Oh that's wonderful! We actually submitted an online survey to hojos and mentioned several times that we wished the rooms had a microwave so maybe our input helped :thumbsup2 ! At anyrate that's fabulous, and if this is the case then yes it's definately worth the extra 20 bucks.

We just got back this afternoon from staying in one of the Disney view rooms at Hojo. It was large, comfy, had a microwave and had a great view. However, I don't think I'd pay for the Disney view again - all of us (daughter just turned 5 on the trip, myself and my husband) were crashed before the fireworks. My daughter never even knew they existed (and I have no clue how she slept through the noise, but she did). So that might be one factor to consider, if you'd make it long enough to actually see those fireworks.
