So I reserved our room for this Friday at the Hojo and paid for my plane ticket and we should arrive to the hotel about 3 as we are going to MHP on Fiday. Today I look at my reservation and realize check in is at 4 & I was hoping to be at Disney by 4. So my question is do you think they would let me check in at 3 instead of 4? Does anyone have experience with this?? Im a little stressed because I had it all planned out & now im not sure what's going to happen. I scheduled my shuttle as well..

You can check in early, but your room may not be ready yet. Your best bet is to call them that morning and politely ask if they can try to get your room ready earlier. In any case, they'll store your luggage for you.

This exactly. Only once has our room not been ready until 4. All other times we've checked in and our room has been ready when we got there around 2ish. They'll store your luggage for you if the rooms not ready and give you your key so you'll have it once you get back from the parks.

We arrived at the Hojo at about 2pm in May and our room was ready and not only that - they had already stored our Vons items! We took the time to let them know ahead of time about the delivery but not that we'd be arriving early as we could just ditch the luggage and head out to get our tickets but the room was good to go anyway. I would email them ahead of time to ask for early check in. It's been my experience that the Hojo is extremely accommodating and devoted to the customer experience. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! :-) I will definately call and ask. It sounds like it will work out fine. :-)

It's no problem to get there early and do the checkin process. Your room might not be ready but that's not a problem. The store luggage for you.

DH travels for work and so far has only run into two hotels worldwide where he was not allowed to do the checkin process until checkin time. One was overseas and the other in NYC. Every other hotel he has been to worldwide since 2009 having this job there has been no issue with dropping bags and doing the process earlier than checkin time.

Places like Disney know that tourists arrive at all hours. :)

Hi GenGen, it's great to see that you will be staying with us! Whenever you are in the area, please come to our Front Desk and we can check if we have rooms ready for an early check-in. If not, we can do a pre-check-in and store your luggage for you until you come back from MHP. We also have restrooms that you can use if you would like to change.
If you get a chance please PM me your name or call us and we will be happy to added a note on your reservation requesting an early check-in.

HTH see you soon!

I love Hojo's customer service. :goodvibes

Wow, everyone received great customer service but me!

We arrived this last Saturday around 1:00 and our room was not ready. Not a problem, the housekeeper said our assigned room was next on her route and we should only have a 30 minute wait. We were provided a key to the pool and water play areas, but no mention of storing our multiple pieces of luggage. ;)

Around 2:00, I went back to the front desk. Nope, room not ready yet, but housekeeping is assuring us that it will only be about 30 to 45 more minutes. At this point, I'm not terribly upset. I know we arrived prior to check-in. I just wish their first estimate of the 30 minute wait had been correct. :confused3

Checked back at 2:45. This time, however, the story changed. This time, housekeeping was one floor up and our floor was next to be serviced. Any time now. :sad2:

Came back again at 3:30. Guess what. Still not ready. My 4 year old is tired. We've been traveling for several hours. She's hungry and needs a nap. So do I. Nobody at the front desk is solicitous at all, and in fact, appear to be smirking at me (I'm sure this is not actually the case, but it did feel like it). I've been exceedingly cordial, always replying with a thank you and a smile as I walked out of the lobby but not receiving likewise treatment. This time, not so much. :sad1:

Finally, 4:00 rolls around, and so do I. This time, I am presented with keys.

By the way, the check-in desk was not busy at any time I was in the lobby, rarely more than 3 parties at any one time and the front desk had 2 to 3 staff throughout this period. There were a couple times that I saw other parties check-in and receive their keys immediately and I can only assume they had reserved a different type of room. Also, once we finally did get to our assigned room there were definite deficiencies with the cleanliness. Wonder if housekeeping rushed the service detail in order to get our room prepared? :guilty:

Hi Jessica,

I am SO sorry to hear about your experience at check in. We understand that it can be very frustrating to be told that your room will be ready early, but not get your keys until the guaranteed check in time. We do try our absolute best to get rooms ready early, but unfortunately this isn’t always the case, especially when we are at a high occupancy. There are high standards that our Housekeeping Staff must meet when cleaning rooms and we do not give keys to a room unless it is inspected by a Housekeeping Supervisor. I have spoken to our Head of Housekeeping, in regards to your specific situation and he assured me that the Housekeeping Supervisors will inspect our rooms with better care. I hope that you enjoyed the rest of your stay with us and that you consider staying with us again.

I just had a thought to share as I was reading this thread. It's not always the fault of the Hotel that they can not accommodate an early check in. Look at the other end of things ....... If they have 25 people on one floor and 10 of those people don't leave until 11:00 and 5 of those people request a 2 hours later check out time it puts housekeeping behind. As one who likes to request late check out, and the hotels usually accommodate -- I'm afraid I'm sometimes the problem that is putting your check in process late.....just a thought!
