Hojo Booking Question

Our August trip will be the first time my family has stayed off site. Based on cost, proximity and water features we have chosen to stay at the Hojo. I plan to book 2 rooms with my AP discount (one for us and one for my parents) in Building 1 with Disney views. Now a couple questions:

1. How are the premium queen rooms compared to GCH & DLH (size and layout wise)? We are a family of 5 (2 adults w/ boys 8, 5, 1).

2. If a better rate comes along, such as AP 30% or retro rates, can I call and have my reservation switched to that discount?

3. I am anxiously awaiting for the new Courtyard Marriott to start taking reservations. If I choose to stay at that hotel, I can cancel my Hojo reservation with no charge, correct? The wording on the website confused me.


Any comments or advice on Hojo in general is also greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I loved staying at Hojo last summer with my kids, and I can't wait to stay there this July again with DD10 and DS7.

1. I haven't stayed at DLH since the renovations a few years back, but the room definitely felt like it had more space than GCH (which we love but can only afford to stay in every once in a while). Loved the balcony and we all spent a lot of time out there watching fireworks, looking out at Matterhorn in the morning, etc.

2. Yes, I believe you can have the reservation switched to account for the discount.

3. Yes, you should be able to cancel as long as you do it a few days in advance.

I have reservations at the HoJo this summer. My cancellation date is two weeks prior to my first day.
Over the years, we have stayed at a few of the offsite motels, but once we stayed at the HoJo, we have never stayed anywhere else. The staff is much more professional and courteous than other places. The grounds are lovely. Your three boys will love the pool area. All around, it is a step up from the other motels in the area.
I am sure you and your family will enjoy it.

You can definitely contact HoJo and have them change your reservation if a better discount comes up - I just did it. I have a trip booked for December 2015 and it looks like my granddaughter will be bringing a friend with her, so I wanted to get the kids suite so they could have a separate room. When I tried to book it online, I found out (and later confirmed via email) that HoJo has changed their AP discount. You get a 10% discount if you don't pre-pay, and you only get the 20% discount if you pre-pay your non-refundable balance in full. That's a disappointing change. However, the DisBoards discount (LNDB) is still 15% and you don't pre-pay. I initially booked the regular AP discount because doing a non-refundable pre-pay right now for a December reservation is just too risky, but when I realized the DisBoard discount was higher, I emailed and got the rate changed.
