Can anyone tell me the difference between the Deluxe Queen rooms and the Superior Queen rooms? I notice the superiors are in building 1 and the deluxe are in building 2. The price difference for our stay is $30. Is it worth it or necessary? I've read that some buildings are noisier than others.

We've only stayed in the Deluxe in Bldg 2. They face the courtyard pool.

Superior rooms in Bldg 1 face the park and will give you a view of the fireworks if not obstructed by a tree.

Since the rooms are on the inside, not facing the Interstate, the noise should not be bad with either option. However, we did have a room on floor one of Bldg 2 last time and there was not a room across the hall from us. We did hear some noise from trucks on I-5, but it wasn't too bad.

I assume that is $30/night. For that, I'd pick the Deluxe and get a room on the Harbor side of the building on floor 2 or higher.

Whether it's worth it to you depends on your own tastes. I have stayed in both room types and prefer the deluxe building 2 rooms because they are quieter. Building 2 is four stories. The rooms overlook the garden pool. Depending on which room you get, you can sometimes hear some highway noise, but it's not usually too bad. Overall, those rooms do seem to be the quietest of the property. Building 2 is the furthest walk. To me a few extra steps here or there don't matter, but they do seem to matter to some people, especially if there are mobility issues, so I'm mentioning it so at least it's not a surprise.

The building 1 superior rooms are park-facing and, therefore, considered "Disney view" rooms. Your mileage may vary on this, as there are a number of tall trees that partially block the view. DS13 did stand out on the balcony last summer and watch the fireworks with an only partially obstructed view, and that was nice for him as he had spent most of the day in the room rather than the park since he got sick. I found this room a bit too noisy for my tastes though. We were near one of the building corners, so I could hear the faint sounds of the freeway but much louder sounds of street noise and even park noise (until at least midnight). I am a somewhat light sleeper so this was a problem for me. Believe it or not, I do better on the highway side of the building now that they have added some sound-proofing measures to those rooms. Building 1 has seven stories with a gift shop and game room on the first floor.

The in-room amenities for the two room types you asked about are the same.

I have stayed in building 3 and building 2. Building's 3 & 4 can be noisy due to the Pirate play area they face. I found my stay in building 3 in Oct/10 was alot more noisier than our prev stays in building 2. Be aware that building 2 is at the back of the property, which means a 2 to 3 min extra walk.

I loved my room with a view of the park. (The building one superior room I guess!)

We had a top floor room.

We watched the fireworks from the balcony once, and my friend watched them from her bed too! I couldn't see them from my bed, but she could. In the warmer months, I could imagine myself eating a little breakfast while standing on the balcony. :goodvibes

I was worried one morning when I got up and my view was gone!

Good luck with your decision.

We just stayed in bldg 1, fourth floor with a view of the Matterhorn. Can't tell you if it was a good view of the fireworks since we were in the park for them. There was a bit of traffic noise but we all slept through it after our busy days at the parks.

If we were to stay again, I'd rather try for a kids suite.

Good luck with your decision.

I've always stayed in Building 1 Superior Queen, park view. I've only ever had very minor traffic noise, if any at all, unless the balcony door was open. You really don't hear the freeway since you're facing away from it. Any traffic noise you might hear is from the smaller, quieter volume of traffic on Harbor Blvd. "Superior" at the HoJo just means park view. There aren't any actual differences in the room itself versus the "Deluxe" Queen rooms.

It's important to ask for as high a floor as possible, though, because the lower you are the less of the park--and the more of the roofs of the lower HoJo buildings--that you see. You can assume you will have a partial view of some sort in any case due to the presence of the tall, old (pretty!) pine trees directly in front of building one. You should also know that the top floor "skylight" rooms are a love/hate thing. You will either love how bright your room is during the day, or hate that if you try to sleep late or take a midday nap you will do so in a *very* bright room as there is no way to dim the light coming through the skylights. At all. (Sometimes I go to flick the light switch during the day in these rooms and then realize--duh--it's the sun!)
