To be blunt, I am pretty round ! I couldn't ride the Hogwarts ride, but had no trouble on any other Universal ride, Will I be able to ride thr Gringotts ride ?
My DH is a big guy and was able to fit on Gringotts. He tried the test seat and did not fit. The employee standing there told him not to bother trying the actual ride. I wanted him to wait with me and the kids on the long line so he tried anyway. Row 3 and 6 have bigger seats. He fit fine in row 6. We were so glad he tried! Give it a shot.
The test seats in US/IOA that Ive noticed were set as 2 test seats. One of the seats is a standard setup and the other is setup to simulate the more accommodating restraint setting for the bigger seats. Perhaps someone with firsthand information will let us know if this is the way the Gringotts test seat is setup.
In this thread, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3302771 , I linked to a couple of youtube videos. One of a person who mentioned they couldn't ride and one who mentioned they could. Although the one who couldn't I think only tested the test seas and didn't try the real seats.
I'm still a couple of weeks out from my trip, so some one else may beat me to it, but I will have each of my family members sit in the test seats and post (maybe with pics) our "sizes" and opinions about the fit. I'll also try to remember to take one of those soft measuring tapes with me and get measurements of the seats too. Two in my shiver are definitely considered pooh sized and I've got some serious bootay, so hopefully our reviews will help others.
I've just returned and was able to ride gringotts. I weigh around 300lbs and I'm 5ft 8 tall.
I carry a lot of my weight on my legs, especially my thighs and wear a UK 22 -24 on the bottom. I did try the test seat and just about managed to squeeze it down and found the back row was okay and not too snug when riding. I also tried the test seat on Forbidden Journey, which didn't fit but thought id try anyway and I fitted in the outer seat. So you never know. I also found the seats very similar to the Mummy but slightly smaller.
My brother also traveled with me and he's 6ft 4 and around 360lbs with very large thighs and calfs and wears a 48" Jean. He tested the seats outside on both rides and was told he wouldn't be able to ride however when he boarded he was able to get enough clicks and rode. He did find gringotts uncomfortable though as it was very restrictive on his legs.
