Hockey Pockety Wockety Wack A Tale of A Trip from the Back of the Pack

Great to see you back on the DIS! I missed you! :goodvibes

How wonderful that you could enjoy the day after the race without too much pain etc. :thumbsup2 A day by the pool sounds lovely. :cloud9:

looked like a fabulous Day After the Race DAY!! Relaxing, for sure!!

by the way, I left you some yarn porn on my thread, in the Christmas update. :)

It was wonderful! I could have spent my entire vacation just hanging out by that pool!

I still need to get caught up on your thread. I'm horribly behind with everything lately. :sad2:

Loved your last update! Give me the Crystal Palace and the promise of MNSSHP and I'm happy! :)

Doesn't MNSSHP just make everything great? :woohoo:

Glad to have you back...glad the insulting guy didn't get to you...I never let ignorant a&&es bother me either.

I was too happy to let him bother me for long. Nothing was going to ruin my mood. :cloud9:

Yeah... a new update.:goodvibes

I love CP. We always eat there but our next trip we are trying some new places. And if you have never tried CRT you must try it on your next trip. That is one place that is a must eat on everytrip.:cloud9:

So is Stormalong Bay that much fun? We are spending our first night there and then heading over to AKL. I like trying out new Resorts without committing our whole trip and DH just loves AKL so I snuck the Beach Club in before he could say no.:lmao:

I've been wanting to try CRT for awhile now. It's the only restaurant at the MK that I haven't tried now. The price just kills me though! One of these days I'll just break down and do it though

I really loved Stormalong Bay. That sand on the bottom of the pool is just heavenly! I wish I could have spent another day just hanging out there.

I've been missing all of you too! Life has just been a bit nuts. I think I'm almost back to normal again though. (I hope!)

I was really happy I was pain free the day after, especially as when I went to bed the night before everything was tightening up and feeling a slight bit sore. The blisters luckily never became an issue for the rest of the trip. My poor friend though was a mess through the rest of the trip. Luckily the parks weren't too busy, so we just took our time.

Hi again! :wave2:

I swear I'm not intentionally neglecting this poor report. Life has just been crazy this year so far. Normally I right up my updates while I'm at work, but I've been so swamped I haven't had the chance to even think about doing anything else but work. We had one person quit, and they've decided that they don't need to replace her. The added work had made sure that I barely have enough time to breathe and take a lunch break. Hopefully things will ease up a bit shortly. My supervisor told me he reviewed some reports, and I've been putting out a much greater percentage of work in the department than my co-workers so he's going to reassign some of my responsibilities. :cool1: Normally I hate giving up any of my work, but I've finally hit the point when I just can't handle it.

It has really felt a bit odd to not be planning a Disney trip this year. I actually have days when I think I should be calling to make ADRs and come up with a park plan. Then it hits me that I have no trip planned. :sad2: It makes me a bit sad for a moment, but on the other hand I'm thrilled to be trying something completely new.

I registered for Squam Art Workshops the first possible day, and was thrilled to get all my first choice classes. I'm taking a Learn to Spindle class, a knitting class, a printing class and the one I'm really looking forward to - a sewing class where you learn to draft your own pattern and then make a blouse. I just started sewing this year, and am completely addicted! That's what's been taking up all my free time in the evenings. I think it's going to be a wonderful relaxing, revitalizing vacation. All of which I could really use right about now.

Of course, I'm already thinking of when I can start planning a Fall 2012 trip. :rotfl:

I'm working on my next update now, and should have it up tomorrow. I promise!

Sounds like you've been just slammed with loads of extra work. YUCK! I'm still here, Crissy, and am looking forward to your next update. By the way, I left you a yarn porn present on our thread. It's in the Christmas update, but I can't remember if it's in Thread #1 or Thread #2. But we visited a woolen mill at Christmas and they have a guild that does spinning, dyeing, weaving etc...

Good luck on your artsy classes- they sound fun and fabulous!! yeah for new things!

BOO for all the work. Yeah for sewing. :woohoo: I am attempting to sew all custom Disney clothing for our trip in July. You should visit the Disboutique board. We all love to sew and talk Disney... my favorite things.:goodvibes

That stinks that you have been so overworked! But those art workshops sound really fun! I'm glad to see you back on the boards!:)

Ugh...you and me both on the overworked front. Looking forward to the update!

I know it's a bummer not planning a Disney trip, but I think it helps to get away from Disney every once in a while...your craft camp sounds like something you'll really love...and it won't break the bank either.

Sorry that work keeps you so busy!! But I love your new hobby! I like sewing as well, I find clothes too difficult, but like doing stuff like aprons, table cloth etc. I did a lovely set for Katharina for Christmas. :goodvibes

Your courses for your "camp" sound great! When are you going there?

Crissy, oh my dear sweet Crissy. I know you may not finish this TR, and I make no judgement of that. How many unfinished TRs do I have under my belt?! (UGH, LIFE getting in the way and such!)

But I did want to tell you that I cried through every word of the race. I did the 5K in February and can relate to all of those feelings, those worries and it's so humanizing. It makes you feel SO alive.

I'm doing another 5K in October in Disney and am kicking around the idea of doing the 1/2 in October 2012 if they have it and, if that doesn't work out, the Princess 1/2 in 2013. Keep me in the loop on your Disney running plans. Perhaps, one day, we can cross the finish line together!

Well done, my friend. Well done.

Seriously, I really do mean to post more often. Work has been crazy busy, and I've been really down lately so coupled together it hasn't been a really good mix. Right now I'm trying to focus on gettting my act together before I go on vacation at the end of the month. I had a more productive weekend than normal, so hopefully I can keep that up.

In the meantime…

When we last left this pokey trip report, me and my bff had just finished eating at the Crystal Palace and were all set to head out and enjoy MNSSHP. Already we were miles ahead of last year's Christmas party fiasco. We were in the park, before the official party start time, dressed up, fed and ready to go. I'll never chance eating outside of the park on a party day again.

All along I had been planning on making this a more relaxed trip. I had come up with a loose touring plan ahead of time, but over dinner we sat looking at the party maps and decided to go with a whole new approach. We tossed all the touring plans out the window, except for a few points. We wanted to see Hallowishes, we wanted to see the 2nd parade, and we wanted to meet characters as long as the lines weren't too crazy. That was our whole plan. It felt good. It felt better than good, it felt great to be freed of a real tourning plan.

Our first stop was to meet the seven dwarves. We headed back there right away, and with a good half hour or so before the party officially started we were still about 25-30 people back in line. We had fun chatting with the other people in line, and once it turned 7pm, the line started moving right along.

I had to stand near Grumpy. He's one of my favorites. He reminds me of my dad.

After the dwarves, we headed over to Tomorrowland to ride Buzz and Space Mountain. Luckily we didn't get stuck in line for an hour this year. From there we headed over to Toontown. There was a huge line waiting to get into Minnie's house. I don't know have any idea what was going on there, but it was a bit too long for us to wait for. We headed over to see what the wait for the characters was. Tinkerbell and the fairies had an hour+ wait. We passed. I would have loved to meet Tink, but I didn't want to waste that much party time. The princesses though only had a 15 min. wait. We hopped in line and started chatting with the family in line in back of us. They had a little girl who was refusing to put her Snow White costume on to the consternation of her mother. We lent a hand and helped talk the little girl into putting her costume on before she met the real Snow White. Her mother was eternally greatful for our help, and the look on the little girl's face when she saw Snow White up close was just magical.

As for us, we had a blast chatting with the princesses and their princes. First up was Aurora and Philip She really liked my pirates necklace.

Then it was Cinderella and her Prince Charming.

And finally Snow White, who checked in with us to be sure that Doc was making sure that Grumpy was behaving himself.

After we were done we headed over to Mickey's place, which was dead. (Minnie is much more the party girl). I was half convinced that Mickey had to be over at Minnie's place meeting people, but we wandered out to the barn to double check and we walked right into to meet Mickey with barely a wait at all. I was shocked there was no one there. While we were waiting our turn, there was a baby that had no interest in being there. He was sobbing like crazy, and his dad was going to take him out of the room, while the wife stayed with the other kids. Right before the father was going to walk out, Mickey left the rest of the group and went over to the baby. In about a minute the baby was laughing and completely infatuated with Mickey. It was amazing. Everyone kept telling Minnie she had herself a real keeper. She'd nod and make swooning gestures. I would too. I love Mickey in his pirate gear. Look out Captain Jack!

Afterwards we headed to the Alice in Wonderland Trick or Treat trail. (Brought way too much candy thanks to that trail). We had just missed the Red Queen, but we managed to meet both Alice and the Mad Hatter before she had to leave. It was one of my favorite meetups from the night. The two of them were so funny together.

While we were on the trail, I thought I caught a glimpse of a glowing, decorated ECV, but it was too far away to investigate.

We wandered back towards Fantasyland after that, taking advantage of the non-existent lines to ride the rides. My only regret was that when we saw the evil hag from Snow White we didn't go over right away to meet her. We went on the line, got stuck for while when the ride broke down, and when we got off she was gone. In the end we spent quite a lot of time looking at this:

By the time we got off the ride it was time to head over to the hub to watch Hallowishes from our favorite spot. We did a bit of wandering before heading back towards Liberty Square to watch the parade. I'm not a huge parade person, but I love MNSSHP. We got there early to snag good spots. The only bad thing about that is that once I sit down to wait, I feel I need to keep sitting so I don't get in the way of the people behind me. We had a perfect view of the parade as it passed by.

Captain Jack! I wish they still had him as a meet and great character.

While we were watching the parade I saw the glowing ECV again a bit down the ways from us, so as soon as the parade had passed by, I went over to investigate. Sure enough I had a DIS meet. It was Maroo, in her Main St. Electrical Parade decorated ECV. It looked great! I'm so glad that I got to meet her.

By now it was started to get late, but we couldn't let a trip to MNSSHP go by without a ride on the Haunted Mansion. The mansion looked great for the party. All goulish lighting, and smoke. The woman out front interacting with the crown was great. I tried to take a few pictures, but none of them really came out. We did stop for one of the specialty pictures on the way out though in front of the castle.

Then they told us to look scared. Obviously, I'm no actress. I think that's looking a bit more shocked than scared.

Hm scared

The night nearly at an end we wandered slowly out to the front doing a bit shopping, and finishing up the night by being one of the last people on Pirates. (My favorite way to end up a night at the Magic Kingdom!)

My post-race day went wonderfully, but how long was my energy going to last?

I know I'm a bit late, but thanks! We had one girl leave our department, and they won't replace her. Plus they've started all kinds of special projects we need to complete in our non-existant down time. I'm perpetually pooped from work!

BOO for all the work. Yeah for sewing. :woohoo: I am attempting to sew all custom Disney clothing for our trip in July. You should visit the Disboutique board. We all love to sew and talk Disney... my favorite things.:goodvibes

I'll have to check that out. It's been so addictive. I love knitting too, but this is much faster for me than sewing. Love it!

Thanks April! I just noticed that you have just one day to your next trip. So lucky! Have fun.

I'm not really minding not having a trip planned for the most part. I know that I really needed a bit of a Disney break. I truly believe a bit of an absence makes the heart grow founder. I have really been missing planning a vacation though. My art camp trip didn't really require much planning. I signed up right away, I got all my classes - everything including food is part of the package. Now I'm all set until I have to drive there. I don't even have to book a flight. Quite relaxing!

Thanks. I keep hoping things will slow down a bit at work, but there seems to be no end in sight. I'm trying to at least get some more sleep so that I have more energy to handle it.

I've only sewn a few skirts so far. I've been far to nervous to try anything with sleeves. I've done zippers though and those weren't too difficult. I don't know why, but sleeves scare me!

I'm leaving for camp at the end of the month. It runs from June 1 to the 5th, but I decided to add on a few days for a mini solo vacation at a motel on Lake Winnipesauke. I can't wait. I just want to spend those 2 extra days thrift shopping and knitting while enjoying the beauty of the area.

Thanks, Tink. Looking back it's still amazing all the emotions I went through doing this race. I'm so glad that I went through with it, no matter what the outcome. I thought of you doing yours, and hoped that you were able to enjoy it as well.

I was looking ahead to the 2012 race as well. This year I really needed a break to try to get myself back together again. I've stopped running for now, as my weight has gone up and it just can't handle it. I need to get a handle on that before restarting the running again. I'm trying to get out and walk at least.

I'd love to cross a line with you! Keep me up to date on your plans. Someday I want to do the Princess too.

I LOVE the pic with the dwarves! When I was there last Sept., the line was at least 100 people deep all night long, so I never got my chance. I just got a "drive by" pic of them between guests. LOL

I did, however, get my pic with the Hag and the Stepmother and Stepsisters. The latter were HILARIOUS! They were asking me why I was alone and where was BF and oh, maybe he'd prefer them over me! GREAT interaction.

Nothing beats a Halloween party. I can't wait. I'm doing one again this year during my Sept. visit.

This year I really want to focus on the 5Ks that I have lined up and losing weight as well, but I'm definitely looking ahead to the 1/2 marathons, particularly in Sept./Oct. for either 2012 or 2013. The Princess 1/2 was a lot of fun too. I just have to watch me progress and decide when I'm ready.

UGH. This is when I really wish we were a lot closer. I think a lot of things in our lives are very similar and we're coming from a lot of the same places. It would make getting together and training so much easier!

But I'm still glad to have you, even if it's just on the DIS or FB. :flower3:

I love the photo in front of HM. It sounds like you had a really great MNSSHP night! I hope things are getting better at work. :goodvibes
