Hi, after reading a thread yest about upgrading the hotel, i priced up the new york and found it to be less than i thought compared to the cheyenne when we go.Have read the faq thread about the hotel and other reviews and have a couple of questions that would help make up my mind-

1) I know the hotel is more formal, but is it still child friendly (i have read that nbh sometimes isn't)?

2) with being a smaller hotel, is there less queues at breakfast, i.e would it mean i wouldn't have to get up at 6.30 am to avoid the q as we did at s.l?

3)Do you still have to pay a supplement for the hot breakfast?(one review wasn't clear)

4) is it really worth another £146 to change from cheyenne????????

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3
Thanks very much!!

Very child friendly. Often chracters about :) Just a bit more grown up in design aspects etc and as there aren't bunk beds perhaps expect less kids staying there.

I'd say its worth it to upgrade! Soo close to the village!

I don't know about the breakfast I'm afraid. But it is certainly a lot less busy than NPB/SL.

I have stayed at the nyh several times now with my children and it is certainly child friendly.I believe its worth the upgrade as the queues at breakfast were minimal and yes, you do get hot cooked breakfast for no extra charge- bacon.sausages, srambled egg, toast along with breads, cakes, cereals cold meats etc.
It is closer to the village and dont forget it has a large swimming pool as the SL does NOT have a pool.
Hope this helps.

thanks for that - the distance from the park is one thing swaying us as thinking about the weather in jan,but being able to have a later hot breakfast would prob save us the upgrade money in mid morning snacks and lunches with my 2!!!!

Id you mean SL = Sequioa Lodge then it does have a pool, but I think you mean the Santa Fe?

The queues at Breakfast depend on what time you go and what day of the week it is.

In my experience queues are fairly small compared to other hotels but one one occasion i went to breakfast at around 8.30am on a sunday morning and had to queue for 30 minutes before they could find a table for us and we were only a 2 so could be squeezed in fairly easily. There were families of 4 or 5 who were ahead of us in the queue and were still waiting when we had finished eating.

So while it is usually quieter in HNY i'd still recommend going to breakfast fairly early.

We got back from HNY on Saturday evening, 1st time we had stayed here (got a great deal - £351 RO for 2 nights). Overall the hotel is lovley and amzingly close to the parks! i will outline my pros and cons and if i can figure it out, post some piccies!
Pros :thumbsup2
- So near to park
- Cooked breakfast made a nice change and it was free
- No ques for Brekie at all - we went down for 7.30 and there were 5 tables being used for breakfast, they did breakfast in both the restaurants so it was very quiet.
- Bed was soooo comfy
- We didnt use the pool but it looked nice enough!
- Hair dryer in the room

Cons :sad2:
- Not really worth the money in my opinion, i think if money wasnt an object then i would stay again, but as money is an object i doubt we would - just simply wasnt worth the extra cash!
- we were on the 5th floor overlooking the lake (hadn't paid for a lake view so this was a nice suprise) but the wind was whisterling around the window, so much so that Roy barely slept in the extremly comfy bed!
- Hotel is child friendly but there were lots of business people their and i think if we had of had children with us i would have felt we should keep them quiet!

out of me and my other half we are in disagreement over the best hotel, i think the SL is by far the best and my fave, whereas he prefers the Cheyenne. But i suppose it is down to personal preference! Have fun

Thanks for that information Mrs Stonfiesta.. We've got the HNY in Oct with the free night and day offer and it was cheaper then what we paid to stay at NYE in Cheyenne even with the HBP vouchers so we thought we'd give it a try as we both love the look of it. We've stayed at SL and Cheyenne but i perfer SL its a lovely hotel....
