HMMMM- we didn't dance like this when I was a teen....

I heard about this on my way to work yesterday morning, and got a good chuckle out of it  Wanted to see the pic they talked about but forgot, thank you for linking it! :thumbsup2

Nick's picture is THE BEST part!:rotfl2:

:lmao:Love the picture!

But seriously, which parents, exactly, are upset that some boy won't be able to grind his crotch into their daughter's behind? How is preventing that stifling creativity? Maybe stifling PROcreativity!

One of our local high schools went through this a few years ago
I think it's a little ridiculous.
While I have my own opinions on whether the dancing is "appropriate" or not, I'd venture a guess that not many high school girls have ever gotten pregnant while dancing. Take away the dance, and they're going to go find somewhere else to hang out.

I know some HS students who just really don't want to attend HS dances anymore because of the 'grind-lines' and other out-of-control behaviors.

agnes!
PS - And yes, that picture of the principal is kookily *bad*. You just know the newspaper picked the best one....right ;)?

he looks like that a lot.....:rotfl:

Based on the glare in the photo I am sure that is MR. NICKERSON young lady!:rotfl2:

As one commentator said, "he could drag you into his office by the ear and never take his other hand out of his pocket..."
He's the Principal of the largest high school in the state and has been for MANY years- I'm thinking the dancing is pretty bad to get his dander up like this.... but it's still funny!

The guy on the news report said that it was the "typical 'you kids get off my lawn!' old guy photo".

Can't argue with that.... My daughter bought a paper so she could have the photo to put on her dorm wall.

Anyone else think its ironic that the school's name is Bangor?

Did you all see the Dr. Phil show where they were discussing that kids are actually having sex on the dance floor at these dances?

On the dance floor? Shoot, at our local HS, students have been seen having sex during the school-day in the stairwells.

agnes!

I know of a guy and a girl who got kicked out of school in the 80's for doing that.... that's been happening for a long time....

Seriously though, those of you who think this is just over-reacting or innocent dirty dancing should talk to some real high schoolers today. While it may not be highly publicized there's not only simulated, but also actual, sex going on at some high school dances and the chaperones are limited in their ability to stop it.

At DD20's old high school - in a very nice rural area where more than 80% of graduates go on to colleges - kids would dance in a circular area with those who wanted to do more than dance in the center. It became hard for the chaperones to get to the problem kids and, even if they did, really... would you want to make that phone call to explain to mom and dad why they need to pick up their little snowflake before the dance has ended??
So... at our high school they turn on the lights if things look suspicious. If behavior doesn't stop, the music is turned off until it does. There's also the chance that offenders will be asked to leave. When behavior is corrected and/or offenders leave, the lights and music resume. Before each dance the kids had to sign a slip when they bought their ticket saying they read the rules. One of the first rules on that list was that all students must wear underwear.

In DD20's junior year, the winter formal was cancelled following incidents at the homecoming dance. A letter was sent home in advance explaining why. Boy, was that something to share with the grandparents...:rolleyes1

I know that I dont really care for this type of dancing but.......when we were YOUNG ....well when I was young......we were not allowed to do the twist that had come out that year.....
Like someone else posted......you cant get pg dancing this way but it does lead to the back of the bleachers later on...UNLESS you still have two feet of snow.

It was in our Newspaper yesterday.....of course we laughed about it....
