hmmm...would YOU ice skate pregnant?

I read the whole birthday bash details and all I can do is shake my head! I also read that when they were on the ice it was sleeting/raining and very cold. Sounds like a heavenly time to me!

I guess Doctor Tom Cruise gave her the all clear to have her out on the ice!

Yes I would. With a few exceptions, pregnant women and the baby growing inside of them are not all that delicate. A uterus is like Fort Knox...most of the time it wants to keep the baby in their longer than the mother does!

If it were something I did all the time anyway, sure, I'd continue skating. I wouldn't try anything new while pregnant, but I see no reason to stop doing things I'd normally do.

I did while pregnant, wasn't nuts or anything just a nice easy glide. But I've always skated. Oh yes I went skiing too.....

If you're active you stay active. If you're a couch potato, don't attempt it.

None of us know her level of skating or what she did. It's one picture.

People should lighten up and leave your judgements to yourself.

I probably wouldn't do it, but really I don't see the harm in gliding around the ice a little bit. I mean, come on, it isn't like she is out there slapping a puck around or something. :confused3

I skated while I was pregnant. Nothing fancy, just took my niece around the ice a few times. No problems. :)

I think people are just looking for something else to pick on them about, now. I don't see a problem with Ice Skating if you normally do it, but I myself wouldn't attempt it as I fall a few times a skate.

I didn't think any of the responses came across as judgemental...most simply answered the OPs question: would you or wouldn't you skate while pregnant? To answer that question, NEVER...just not worth the worry...even if the risk of injury is low, if I fell I would be a basketcase, which is probably more harmful, so it would not be worth it to me.

I wouldn't have had enough balance at that stage of pregnancy to do it, but clearly she did. Besides, knowing them, I'm sure Tom didn't let go of her long enough for her to fall. He can't keep his hands off of her!!

LOL - that's a very valid point! hehehe

I wouldn't of chanced it. but consider who it is we are talking about. :rotfl:
I'm actually surprised he "let" her do this. He seems so controlling and wanting everything to be "perfect" for the baby. This whole thing just screams photo-op exploitation to me.

One of the gossip columns I read about this skating photo-op indicated that she did not appear to be very comfortable on skates, so I don't think she's an "experienced" skater - probably someone like me that has skated around a rink a couple times, but that's about it. (Now granted, I do take gossip columns with a grain of salt - or sometimes a whole shaker's worth...)

If that's true, she shouldn't have been out there. I know there's no way I'd be out on skates at this point even if I was carrying only one baby and didn't have a regulation size basketball for a belly. I can handle myself reasonably well on skates to not fall, but I wouldn't trust my balance. I have a tough enough time walking on icey sidewalks, something I've been doing my whole life living up here in the Midwest.
