Hmmm, possible job in Orlando

DH got a notice this morning from the placement co that got him his current job that they have an opening in a firm in Orlando that matches his quailifications sooooo well. Now, the question is whether or not to apply. The thing is, he is really secure in the job he is in--and job security is a big deal in IT--and we have crappy credit at the moment. I know we wouldn't qualify for a mortgage but what qualifications do apartments use? We would have quite a bit of equity coming out of this house though.

Early to be thinking abuot all this stuff, but that is how my crazy brain works.


And of course, my children have seen news about the hurricanes and don't want to move to FL. (Ignore the fact that last month we had a tornado touch down within 15 miles of us. )

Apartments seem to be doing credit checks lately. Depending on why your credit is bad--they use it just to see how reliable you will be for paying rent. If the reasons were beyond your control (like medical) or you've got a bankruptcy that is sitting on record...it shouldn't be too much of a problem. If you have a bunch of past dues currently sitting on your account that you haven't made good on, it could be a problem.

My mother has successfully gotten apartments with a bankruptcy on record. But no new credit problems since then and a job.

Around here many apartment complexes pull credit and also have minimum income requirements to qualify. Not sure about Orlando though!

apartments here go by your income. I forget the ratio, but it's pretty low. when we first moved here, we were in a 3 bed 2 1/2 bath, 1700 sq ft. all we had to do was provide proof of our income, no credit check. we paid $1250.00 per month. the deposit was around $500.00 because we had a dog.
