I was on another board and read you cant go through the stretching room with a wheelchair (not even a manual one) but you have to leave it at the exit (or skip the stretching room entirely)

is this true? I've been in the HM line and i can't see how negotiating it with a manual chair would be impossible. an ECV wouldnt fit, though

It is correct that you either have to leave the wheelchair at the exit (and walk into the stretching room) or skip the stretching room. The line to get to the boarding area is not accessible. It does get fairly narrow, plus the darkness would make it difficult to avoid hitting/running over toes with the wheelchair.

When going in, the CM will ask if you can get out of the wheelchair/ECV, stand during the part of the show that is in the stretching room and then stand/walk to get into the boarding area. If you answer yes, you will be taken into the stretching room by a back entrance.

I know some people who have gone into the stretching room with a wheelchair and then left in the wheelchair by the same door they came into the stretching room. Then they actually boarded in the exit.

We have not actually been in the stretching room for many years (at least not when we were with my DD who uses a wheelchair).

Depending on how busy it is you can take a manual wheelchair into the stretching room. I've done it many times.

Wheelchair access to the HM is through the exit. However you have to be escorted in the exit by a CM. When the CM is taking you to the exit ask very politely if he has time to take you to see the stretching room. About 50% or more of the time the CM is happy to let me go into the stretching room. They take you in through a backstage hallway that is near the exit. Sometimes I go in with others and I go in first and they ask me to remain still until the crowd exits and sometimes my group gets the stretching room all to themselves. Once the "show" is over and the rest of the guests have exited you are taken back out through the backstage area and you board the ride at the exit.

I think the key is being polite and understand that sometimes it's just too busy for them to take you backstage. I'm not sure if they'll do this with an ECV since you do go down a fairly narrow hallway and through a normal sized door.

Good luck on your trip, I hope you get to see the stretching room. :thumbsup2
