For all my fellow galactic hitchhikers, here's a link to the unofficial website for the upcoming "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" movie, where you can download the brand spanking new teaser trailer that was shown to attendees of a comic convention.

The trailer rocks! I just can't believe this movie is finally real! I've literally waited 20 years since the first time I heard it would be turned into a film. 20 years and it's finally happening!!! I swear, the first time I see this trailer in the theatre, I'm going to scream the loudest scream of joy anyone's ever heard! Hooray!!

Enjoy:

Too fun! I loved those books, and need to re-read. I remember hearing movie rumors then too!

Thanks!

Thanks! Can't wait. Just finished reading the posthumous "Salmon of Doubt". I can't believe how long he was working on it (the movie) before he died and three years later it's finally getting done.

edited to clarify pronouns..... ;)

You know, the main reason why I refer to the Unofficial Guide as "the Guide" is because of the way Ford referred to the HHG. It's still one of my favorite books/series of all time, and has certainly influenced my writing style. I've always wanted to make the first two words of the Unofficial Guide "Don't Panic" with an appropriate footnote to Douglas Adams.

Glad to hear the movie is finally being made. I remember playing the first Hitchhiker PC game (on an Apple II+) like 20 years ago, and they were talking about a movie back then.

Wow! That's a blast from the past. I played it on an Apple IIe.

SWEET Thanks!! My brother and I are both diehard fans!

Wow, I can't believe it either! It's been so long since I've read the book! Can't wait for the movie!:sunny:

Frankly, not really. More of a curiosity piece for fans. A lot of essays he had written for magazines and such. The most entertaining story is one he wrote about Genghis Kahn and how he had to unwind after a hard day plundering.

The actual portion of the book that is "The Salmon of Doubt", the book Douglas was working on when he died, is pretty interesting. Just frustrating to read, because just when you really want to know what's going to happen... it just ends. We'll never know what the deal was with that rhino (trust me, you'll want to know)! :( Really, though, on the whole the book is for big Douglas Adams fans. If you really like him (and miss him), then it will be a good read.

I'm currently reading "Hitchhiker", a biography of Douglas, that's pretty good so far. I'm just getting to where he began working on the Hitchhiker's radio series. :D
