History of DINGS Fares for Orlando

DINGS do not let you switch. You need to do a fast cancel and rebook on them. I always open up two windows and get as much information entered one both screens as possible.

I did mean this (and have done it), but didn't explain it clearly.
Also wanted to add......one time I had trouble canceling and rebooking. I called SW while I had the DING fare window open. The SW customer service person cancelled my existing flight from her computer screen. She applied the credit to my account and I was able to book the DING fare within seconds using my "travel funds". So that is another option.

I used to always call them and have them cancel for me, so I wouldn't mess it up. But then learned the two screen method out enough to do it just as fast myself. It is stressful at times!

There is a "backdoor" method that is mentioned towards the beginning of this thread. It is located on flyertalk.com. The specific URL is listed in the message towards the front of this thread. Check it out.

No, you cannot call and get these Ding rates. You must book them online. I have a motorola Q phone. I can't get the ding program to work on it. But I created the backdoor URL that is mentioned above. This lets me see if a Ding is currently availalbe or coming soon. I then have a second URL stored on my phone. This URL is a URL that I saved from a once working Ding. Once that Ding has expired, that Ding's URL will not work again. But it does give me the framework for future Dings. On my "Q", the backdoor Ding will tell me if a Ding is availalbe and what it's offer ID is. I then type the new ID into the old Ding's URL and I then have the working Ding on my cell phone. It's not terribly hard, but it works and lets me not worry so much when I'm away from my main computer.

I'm not sure what you're asking exactly warriorboy ? No codes are needed to book a DING, but if you go to cancel a previous flight and then rebook a DING fare (using your travel funds from the credit), you do need to put in the reservation numbers.

If you are running the Ding program, you don't need any special codes. If you are using the backdoor, you will get the "offer code" from the backdoor and then paste that into the two places into your dummy Ding URL.

Oh bummer ! I was doing grocery shopping myself. I had run into my dd's friend's mom in the store. I'm planning on taking her along with us next month. Her mom asked me if I had gotten a good fare yet and I told her, "no...still waiting". I even told her I was beginning to give up. This was at approx 3:30 pm. I was home from food shopping by 4:30 pm, and even before I unpacked the groceries I checked my computer----I've been obsessive with doing this.
I'm really sorry you missed it. Maybe another will come out----here's hoping !
