History of DINGS Fares for Orlando

If you actually get a DING for the city and price you want, but you've already booked your flight, will they let you change them to the new price or are you stuck with what you have? I've made time changes before but didn't know if you could rebook without some kind of penalty.

Southwest doesn't charge rebooking fees. You only need to pay the difference in flight price. In this case it'll be less, so you're due for a money or credit back. What you booked determines if it's cash or Southwest credit you're receive back. If it's a Wanna Get Away price then you'll get Southwest credit, which I believe is good for 1 year. I haven't rebooked anything in awhile since the Dings have pretty much been nonexistent for me. :(

But nope you're not stuck with what you have. A nice perk of Southwest.

It's a good practice to purchase when you can...and especially when you see the lowest price. (Especially since airfare can go up QUICKLY!!!! ) That way if a Ding doesn't come along then you have a good priced fare. Instead of waiting around, hoping a Ding comes for you. That's what I've done in the past and haven't had problems (with any rebooking fees or lost money). Just hang onto the canceled confirmation number. That's your "Southwest credit" number.

A lot fewer DINGS in the past year. Fewer DINGS to Orlando.DING prices aren't much better then sale fares.

SW is now offering their better fares via their weekly sales and not really through DING.

I totally agree with you. And they are definitely just using DING for its original purpose...moving unsold seats. The DINGs are MUCH closer to the travel date. Several years ago I bought DING fares for our October trip on July 4th. I haven't seen a DING to Orlando from my market (Louisville) in a long, long time. But I'd take a $99 DING over the lowest $159 Wanna Get Away Fare they are offering now--which is surely to increase too!

For Southwest Airlines, they change flight prices every Tuesday and Saturday morning. Keep checking regularly, I check every week and then buy when I think its the lowest it will go. Always remember though, if you find a cheaper price you can always return your ticket and get a credit. Hope that helps!

For other airline companies, I'm not sure... maybe others here could help?

Those of you hoping for DINGs to destinations other than Florida markets and the southern US probably shouldn't get your hopes up too high. :sad2:
