We are going to disneyworld 17th September 2014 :-) with three children, 7, 8 and 9, we would prefer direct flights. We have a bit of flexibility with dates. Just wondered when the likes of BA and virgin have their sales? Went in 2012 and picked virgin flights up for £460 each. Is that a bit ambitious for this year??

I don't think historical info helps anymore. Airlines maximise their sales & profits. If they think if they need to have a sale they will, if they don't they won't. All you can do is keep looking and book when you are happy with a price. I have paid just over £600pp for direct flights with VA, past years I wouldn't have accepted over £500.

Unfortunately £460 with VA may be ambitious! I think their last sale was January though?

Alternatively have you tried Thomson or Thomas Cook? Their prices are much more reasonable and you may get flights in that kind of price range.

Edit - this is JMO, but when we've flown VA in the past we've been very impressed. The refurbed planes are a bit meh though IMO. I'd probably choose the Dreamliner over VA now, just for the better planes!

When we went in september in 2012 we booked flights middle of may at 5am in the morning :). They were £510 each . Last year when i looked similar time as I keep a tally they were £545 adult £514 children beginning of may. M+M were £20 or so less. I had to cancel these due to bereavement. I think you are more likely looking at £520-550 with VA. I agree with the above poster in that thomson have some great prices. If you are driving and can get from sanford to orlando then they are worth thinking about. My friend flew last september 14th with VA booked 2 weeks before paid £512 each. Sometimes better to wait. Good luck

Just checked your dates and this is current with Thomson and virgin atlantic (miles plus money flights)
Flights
£2849 thomson 17/9-01/10 2014
Va m+m £2681
From manchester

Thanks everyone :-) I would be happy with £500 - £530 each and if I see it for that I will book. Will def investigate Thomson :-)

How does the m and m work??

Thanks for checking the price :-) I think I may wait it out for a little bit longer! £2600 and I am sold!!

Have u flown with Virgin before? If you have each completed flight u earn miles which u can then use on future flights to help reduce the cost. They are not always available but your dates normal cost is over £3000 without the M+m fair. Just keep checking. Where are u flying from?

We flew VA in September 2012 but I don't think I got any points?? We are pretty flexible on where we fly from. We live in Somerset so it is a trek wherever we fly from!

If you are not already a member of virgin flying club I am not sure u can still get ur miles added. Think its 6 months after your flight.shame.Thomson fly from birmingham/manchester/ london but manchester and london prob ur best bet with VA/BA

.... however, if you are a flying club member already it will be worth pursuing. We have found the flying club people very helpful in the past and were especially impressed with them when we booked our upcoming trip using our miles. The young lady we spoke to was really good and spent ages on the phone, did all sorts of calculations for us, and helped us work out the best way of combining all of our miles, Tesco vouchers etc to get what we wanted for the least possible cash outlay.
