I completely forgot about Whitney my Love, and isnt Paradise the 2nd book to this? I know there were one or two with the secondary characters getting there own story!!

Whitney my love...is one of her historical romance novels. Paradise, is a modern day...I think "Remember when" is the sequel to that....I could be wrong.

Historical Romance will always be near and dear to my heart! :goodvibes

May I recommend Georgette Heyer's books - she pretty much invented the Regency Romance genre. They are really well-researched historical novels - they aren't bodice-rippers, in fact I can only think of a few kisses, but they are fun and romantic.
I like "The Grand Sophy", "These Old Shades", "The Tollgate"

Another vote for Stephanie Laurens, Julia Quinn and Celeste Bradley... I also love stories by Amanda Quick...

Amanda Quick is great!!

Georgette Heyer is being reissued! I have enjoyed some of her wonderful books, some do move slower than others... I'm trying to read Black Mask I think it is... Sophy's Choice was a good read! And I agree, to read Georgette Heyer is to start at the beginning.. well Jane Austen, Sense and Sensibility

(mind you my memory isnt what it used to be!!)

and no sheaths either!! :rotfl:

Kathleen Woodwiss doesn't write series but she has several very well written period romances. Diane Mott Davidson is also good but not historical, just mystery/romance stories.

Maggie Shayne's Wings in the Night series is really good! Quite different but really good!

I agree with all the previous mentioned authors. Julie Garwood is wonderful as well. Catherine Coulter has her Brides series and then there is Jo Beverley....I love historicals, but have been reading a bunch of paranormals lately too.

For Cynster fans. The Ideal Bride is now out in paperback. I thought I had heard this was supposed to be the last in the series but it looks like it will continuing.

I used to love Julie Garwood but her older stuff. Her newer books are kind of boring. Karen Robards while not historical is great too. Go to theromancereader.com or romancereader.com and they pretty much have evey author you would think of with ratings by people like you and I NOT some publisher or paid reveiwer. I do not know if anyone has suggested this website before but I love it.

An author that has not been mentioned is Eloisa James. Very good in a Julia Quinn sort of way. I highly recommend her.

I am reading Georgette Heyer for the third or mybe fourth time. I love her books. I am glad that they are being reissued.

I can't believe I'm the first to mention the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon! :cloud9:

Just finished the Mallory Series by Johanny Lindsey for the thrid time. I've read all of Nora Roberts and also Jo Goodman and Catherine Coulter. I've read the Slightly Series as well.

I need some suggestions for new material. I've read all the Jude Deveraux too.

I love love love the Mallory Series so something along those lines would be great! Any suggestions????

lol that's my book list!

I love Johanna Lindsey - she always gives her characters a sense of humor. The Mallory series is my all time favorite too. Especially crotchity ol' Warren :)

Did you read all of the Bride series by Catherine Coulter? The Sherbrookes were yummy too......

Another vote for the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. These are some of the best books I've ever read.

Paradise is followed by Perfect, then Remeber when.

Whitney My Love is followed by Somthing Wonderful, Almost Heaven, Once and Always, and Until You in that order I believe. There is also a medieval novel featuring Royce's ancestors from Whitney My Love called Kingdom of Dreams.

I also HIGHLY recommend the Outlander series, I loved them. My other favorite series is by Lynn Kurland. They're sort of paranormal/history. The first in one of the series is "Dance through Time" and she's got another series that's just historical the first of which is Another Chance to Dream.

if you're looking for funny hostorical try Teresa Mediros, not a series, but well written and engaging....

sorry, I could go on and on, I generally only read cheesy romance novels and work in a bookstore

This may be totally different from the books mentioned here Beth, but because I *know* you, I'm going throw this one in the mix. :) My ex-boss told me that I needed to pick up Francine Rivers' Redeeming Love. I'm reading it now & I think it is a book that you'd like in many different ways. Have fun!

2 of my favorite romance writers are LYNN KURLAND...she deals in time travel of modern american women...they are some of the best stories I've read!!!!!

A Dance Through time is great and so it The More I SEE YOU...you won't be disappointed!

the other is Christina SKYE....she has some more up to date books that I haven't read about Navy seals but her older books have to with the Draycotts....they usually have some mystery involved.

I love romance...have read all of Julie Garwood...liked the older ones best.
Amanda Quick...hers are fun at first but then they all seem alike...it gets boring.
Theresa Mederos is good too...and Betina Kran...She has some fun ones...you could look them up on Amazon and read the synopsis.

I like Diana Gabaldon too but her's are not really classified as Romance...she was really upset when they placed her in that category when she first came out.

Have fun reading!!!!!!!
