I did a search but it keeps coming up empty, so sorry if I'm rehashing here..

Is there a certain time of year they raise the points cost? How often does it happen? Do you get any notice? How large of an increase are they usually?
We're thinking of adding on but I'd prefer to wait until closer to the end of my use year to avoid paying dues on them since we don't need them in the next few months. Unless, of course, the price per point is likely to go up significantly any time soon:confused3

Any insight would be appreciated!

Wow! I was at Disney when OKW opened! Too bad my mom wouldn't let me buy in at such a great price :lmao: That made me feel young:)

Thank you for the info!

We are members since opening....We have 280 pts. Besides the price - don't forget the fantastic perk of free admission to the parks until the year 2000.............and we took advantage of it to the last day - spending New Year's eve. 1999 at Disney!:goodvibes

I had heard a price increase is likely in the near future, once AKV had been open a little while. I'd heard August or so, so keep an eye out.

FREE ADMISSION?!??! I was born too late:headache:

Not likely. That was when they were testing to see if a timeshare was right for them. Looks like it was! That kind of promo is long gone, but I sure do like our $100 discount on the APs!

Darn. I will ask for an AP as my Christmas gift every year then:idea:

Don't forget the great Friends & Family promotion they had in the fall of 2005. We did our first DVC purchase in Nov '05 when the regular SSR price was $98 per point with a 15% discount for simply giving them the name of a friend or family member that currently owned - the price ended up being $83.30 per point!

gee after reading that it makes me really appreciate my resale purchase at 83/pt for 200 pts. It also tells me that the people selling really arent making much money right now too....

:confused3

The friends and family was a great deal. It was $83 plus 2years worth of points for us!

Also got into BCV for $84:banana:

So...when OKW opened at $48 per point that may have seemed like alot to many buyers. But....now that seems like the deal of the century!! :woohoo:

How many years will it take for $104 per point to seem like a great deal?;)

When we first purchased in 2002, the price was $75/pt... Less the $10 "Magical Beginnings" promotion.

The net was only $65/pt, and that was only five years ago!! :scared1:

Through 2006 here is a history of DVC point pricing -- average price per point charged each year by DVC, reflecting price changes during years as appropriate and excluding price incentives, but including developer's credits for SSR. So the initial 2003 SSR price of $89 less $10 developer's credit is considered but the recent F&F discount is not.

DVCI
1991 $48.26
1992 $52.88
1993 $56.75
1994 $59.30
1995 $62.13
1996 $62.75
1997 $62.75
1998 $62.75
1999 $65.00
2000 $66.25
2001 $73.55
2002 $78.25
2003 $84.00
2004 $86.08
2005 $90.60
2006 $94.25
2007 $95.41 (projected year average; although with the multi tier pricing it is hard to determine -- I weighted each resort equally since all are sold out)

DVCII (SSR)
2003 $81.04
2004 $91.98
2005 $96.60
2006 $99.50
2007 $103.47 (projected year average)

DVCIII (AKV)
2007 $99.47 (projected year average, including developer credits)
