For previous trips we have always picked up the rental car at the airport and dropped it back at the airport at the end of the trip.

However, this year were going to have a lot of luggage because we are taking golf clubs. We don't want the expense of a large enough car to fit in all the luggage so we have booked ME transfers to/from the airport.

Where is the best place to pick up a hire car on-site? The Disney Car Care seems a long way from Disney (according to the map on usrentacar). The closest seems to be Lake Buena Vista drive. I could get a bus to DTD or Saratoga but it still looks about 2 miles from there.

How do you normally pick up a car when staying onsite?

Thanks,
Steve

We hired a car from Alamo in december and picked it up at the car care centre onsite.

I struggled to find info online - alot of people made it sound very complicated to get to.

It was so easy - no hassle at all.

Booked alamo car online and specified to be picked up at car car centre. There was a number to ring on your paperwork. They just needed about an hours notice then collected you from the hotel in a little blue alamo bus and took you there. It was near the MK parking lot. In and out in no time and no hard sell like at the airport. Less cars to choose from than the airport but we were more than happy.

I think only alamo and national? are onsite not dollar.

After dropping the car off they were happy to drop you at the hotel or a park or DTD.

We did an 18 night trip and were trying to do some of the disney part without a car. We had a car for the first 4 nights offsite then dropped it off at the airport. Then got the magic express to disney -which I loved. Then after 5 days we hired a car from the car car centre for the weekend.

We booked with alamo direct through the uk WDW website. Usually we book US rentacar etc. Price was competitive and well worth it for the convenience.

We usually pick up a car from the swan hotel onsite disney. You can take the bus to Disney Studios then there's a boat to the swan. We usually book though holiday autos.

I have heard recently that if you use the disney car centre they will come and pick you up but haven't look any further into this to know for sure. (EDIT: Just realized someone above mentioned this!)

There's also a rental place at the Buena Vista Palace, which we used once, which is walking distant from DTD and Saratonga Springs. Holiday autos can book this location too.
