Hi
I've got a free hire car as part of my package.
To upgrade is £170 to full size.
They then want £350 for insurance.
What insurance do I need? I've read you can buy your own policy seperately?
Hi just wanted to say welcome
Hopefully a moderator will come along and move your posts across to the trip planning section and then you should get the answer to your questions.
BTW I thought my husband was on the board then with a user name like that. I love it
You can keep the car you get and buy your own insurance policy but personally I don't like that option, on arrival they will more than likely tell you your cover is not adequate and want a high deposit leaving on credit card. If you have to claim you might have to pay upfront and then claim back from your policy in UK. They all work differently.
I far prefer to take the insurance of the car rental company, that way whatever the problem you hand back the car and keys and the problem ends there and then.
Usually the cheapest and best option is totally ignore the free car and rent elsewhere, if you post your dates I will look and see how much it will cost you.
full size with Alamo, for 3 weeks (22 rental days), CDW full and Extended protection included.
total price : £450
the quote you got for insurance and upgrade is already £520
It's easy for your TA to advertise a "free car" as part of your package when you end up paying more for this rental than the regular cost of the same rental car (and possibly better insurance)
who did you book with ?
The free car sounds like a false (or misleading) advertising to me
