Hip Hip Hooray for Christmas Vacation... Disney Style!!! A Dec 2010 PTR

Time to vent!!! About what you ask???

Well… Airfare for my trip!!! All I want to do is get it booked and can’t because the dates for my trip have not been released yet. When we went in December 2008, I had half the trip and my airfare paid for by now!!!

Here’s the issue I am having, I typically fly AirTran when going to Orlando, but for some stupid reason they cut half their Non-Stop flights to Orlando!!! There are only 3 each day now. One at 8a, another at 1p and the last is at 8p and none of those times work for me! We leave for Disney on a Friday so I really want Devon to go to school that day, and I don’t want to miss an entire day of work myself. I’m cool with us both taking a half-day that day, but there isn’t even a flight that accommodates that with AirTran!!! Very annoying!!!

So… Now I freakin have to wait until sometime in June for Southwest to release their fares before I can decide what I am going to do regarding my flight!!! Which causes problems with making my ADR’s!!! I can make them on June 6th and won’t know if I can plan a dinner the night we arrive because I won’t know what time we are getting there…. I know I am OCD, but do you see where I am coming from here!

That being said, my fingers and toes are crossed that we will have our flight figured out before ADR time comes, which by the way is now only 80 days away!!!

If your airfare isn't booked by your ADR day, just book a ADR for that evening and you can always change it or cancel it once you are set on time frame... Or maybe plan on going to ESPN that night since they do not do ADR's???

I think we are going to make an ADR for Chef Mickey's our arrival night, or we will just head to the Boardwalk and hit Big River Grill since they do not do ADR's either...

I am so sorry to hear about Devon's tummy issues . I hope they find out what is going on and it is something simple to correct.

Maybe when the next set of flights for SW come out next week you can look to see the flight times. I wouldn't think they would change that much for December from the end of October, then you can have an idea as to what times you are looking at. I would think if you aren't wanting Devon or you to miss a whole day maybe you could just do a counter service the first night, then you won't have to worry about rushing around the first night.

I can't remember, are you doing the dining plan? If you do the counter on the first night, maybe you could try a 2TS on another day since you would have the extra TS from not using it the first night?

Toni, I that is what we think we are actually going to do, just hold off making 1 ADR and use that to eat at either ESPN or Beaches N Cream. If we arrive early enough we will go to one or the other that night, if not we will just double up a day we are doing a breakfast.

Thanks Mrs K, still waiting to hear from the Dr. about his bloodwork. I just scheduled him an appt at Children's Hosptial to see the GI specialist for 4/19, so hopefully we will figure out what is going on soon. I just feel bad for the poor little guy. Only thing he ain't last night was 2 pieces of white bread!!! Good thing is that eating the bread didn't both his stomach so I'm thinking that the issues are not related to Celiac disease, since bread is made with white flour!

As far as flights go, that is what I plan to do with SW, look over the flight times and base my arrival day on that. Right now SW has a 5:20p flight that will get us into Orlando about a little before 8:30p. That would be great if they still had that time available for when we know. Granted, I'm be even happen if there was say a 3 or 3:30p non stop!

Now... we all know what that means!!! PIN CODE!!! I immediately get all excited and am jumping up and down in my seat as the rest of the email is loading and guess what it is for free QS Dining, BUT not vaild for my travel dates!!!! BOOO!!!! Fingers are crossed that I get one for December!!!

hey reese. Just realized you were doing a PTR. I am so excited that you are able to get back to disney in Dec. It is so cool that you are surprising devon. I think the idea is great. That stinks about airtran. We probably wont be going back to disney until summer of 2012 so at least I can read about your fun trips. Did you ever finish your TR? If you did I think I must of missed it. I am still finishing up mine. Slowly but surely.

Hey Lindsey!!! How are you??? So glad you found my PTR! Yes, we are so excited to be able to go back. I too was not planning on go back this year, buy after the year of work that I am going to have and plus the fact that I am graduating in June, I decided what the heck I deserve it!

No, I was a slacker, I never did finish my trip report, going back to work after being off for so long really threw me for a loop! Trying to find that life balance again nearly killed me!! But I think I'm back into the swing of things now!

He was in tears half the day. They ended up running an entire battery of tests on him and luckily everything was negative so nothing serious. He has to go see a GI specialist for further testing. Hopefully they figure out what the issue is! I just feel so bad and helpless!

Hoping to do an update on the tentative schedule for the trip tomorrow! Tell then... Have a wonderful evening!!!

Aww... So sorry about little man...

I feel for the kid... I was down for the count all day, still in bed actually... But at least I am an adult, I can voice myself more than a child... I couldn't imagine one of my kids being in that much pain...

Hope he starts feeling better!!!

So as promised in my last posting, below are our tentative plans for our Disney Trip!!! Basically, what I did was look at last December 2009 park schedules and based my itinerary off the hours posted for that time period. I figured that that would give me a good indication of what December 2010 would look like… So, without further ado, here’s the plan!!!

We arrive on Friday December 3… My birthday!!! Woo Hoo!!!! Can’t think of a better way to spend it then to be in route to my favoritest place on earth!!! Disney! Any who, since I still have no idea what time we are arriving b/c my airfare is not booked yet, my HOPE is that we land in Orlando no later then 8pm. If this should happen, I would like to check-in, get situated and possibly head over to the Boardwalk for a late dinner at either EPSN or Beach N Cream at the BC resort. Maybe even throw in a round on mini golf on something. Basically… This day is still up in the air for now!

Saturday December 4… Planning on heading to Hollywood Studios and having dinner at Sci Fi Café. With two boys that are 8 and 9 years old traveling with us, Sci Fi is a definite must do!!!

Sunday December 5… Heading to the Animal Kingdom today. Having an early breakfast at Tusker House. This is actually one of my favorite character buffets now. The variety of food is a little different and I just LOVE the juice they serve here . Most likely will head over to DTD tonight as well

Monday December 6… Finally heading on over to the Magic Kingdom!!! But first breakfast at my most favorite place!!! ‘Ohana!!! Yay!!! Last year, the first Monday in December did not have MVMCP scheduled, so I am hoping that that is the case this year as well… The plan is to pull an all day commando and be at the park from open to close! So can’t wait to see the castle decked out in all those beautiful twinkle lights!!!

Tuesday December 7… Today the plan is to head over to Epcot and enjoy a nice dinner at either Teppan Edo or LeCellier. Whatever one we don’t eat at this evening, we will eat at later in the trip. Also, if the Candlelight Processional is performing we will hit that up as well.

Wednesday December 8… Well, here is a first… We are venturing off Disney property and yes, spending the day at Universal. I have to admit, I am super duper siked about going here!!! I have been to the one in California, but being that I am a huge fan of Harry Potter (yes, yes I know I’m a dork) I cannot wait to check out the new HP land here . Devon loves HP too and every times he sees the commercial for the attraction he says man I can’t wait to go there!!! Well, little does he know he will be going this year! Plus, with the first half of Deathly Hallows being released in November, it is so going to build up my anticipation for this visit!!! How, that brings me to a question about getting to and from Universal. Any suggestions??? I looked on the Mears website and it looks like either a shuttle or taxi would run us about the same price. Would love to hear any feedback from people who have used this service before.

Thursday December 9… The plan is to head back to the Magic Kingdom and take a more leisurely approach to touring the park today. Around dinner time, I think we will hop on the monorail and head over to Epcot to eat at either Teppan Edo or LeCellier. Obviously we will eat at the place we did not eat at on Tuesday. If we did not catch CP we will see it this evening. IF not we will most likely boat it over to the Boardwalk or head back to the resort.

Friday December 10… Our last fully day of magic! This is our free day to do whatever we feel like doing when we wake up. We also are planning on going to the Hoop Dee Do Review for dinner tonight.

Saturday December 11… Time to go home, after what I hope to be a very magical Christmas vacation with my boy Devon!!!
