I have a 3 hour psychology exam this monday (16th) :worried:
I have done 6 tma's(essays) and have got good marks.
now the exam essays are going to be taken from chapters that we havent studied or written essays on:scared1:
so that means i have to revise 9 chapters although i could maybe get away with 7..
also i have to learn 30 key words-their meanings and also their importance- at least a paragraphs worth for each-although there will only be 5 coming up in the exam-but we dont know which 5 out of 30 will be there..
anyone got any advice please, i just seem to be reading and reading and nothing is sinking in at all :scared1:  :scared1:

I always found writing helped me retain facts rather than reading alone.
Note down key points or trigger words for each paragraph. Make yourself some revision cards this way or draw a memory net/web for each chapter. You'll find the physical activity in making them very helpful.

I agree whenever I was studying I used to write it all down, even if it was more than once - it seemed to go in more if it was in writing.

Good Luck Jeanette.

i've got notes everywhere and when i try and look away and recite what i've written, i've forgotten again..

Revision cards are the best thing to use, make them really colourful so that when you are in the exam it is easier to picture the info on them. Don't just read the cards, get someone to test you on them so that you are learning the info. When you get into the exam, write any of the terms or studies that you struggle to remember on scrap paper so that if you have a mind block later you can refer to your notes later. :goodvibes

Good luck! :wizard:

The only thing which works for me is writing it down, no chance otherwise

Revision cards and make loads of notes. Could you get together with any of the others taking the exam & study? I always found it easier studying with a couple of friends.

Good luck:goodvibes

well my hint to myself would be, wait til netty's taken the exam, do the course a year behind, wait to see if she passes and then muscle in on her info!
:rotfl2:
sorry netty, good luck with it, i'l be there too next year

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
hows your course going carol??

aww good luck! I know how you feel I have to revise so much for my history exam on thusday and the stuff's not going in. As people have said I find writing things down makes me remember them, and I use lots of colour as well. However people revise in different ways so find your's and stick to it!!! Good Luck! :thumbsup2:

I took Psychology too Netty :) Good luck with your exam :wizard:

You've had some good advice on revision here, the key is to actively process the information to embedd it in your long term memory, underline key points as you read and then use your underlining to make notes, then condense your notes into concise revision cards. Read each card and try to recall as much about that area as you can and ask someone to test you to. You will be able to remember more than you think. When you are in the exam and it is quiet and your focused, the questions will jog your memory and you'll be surprised what comes back to you. As for the word meanings that you need to remember write them out in groups of five and put them around the house, read each set each time your near them and try to chant them the same way you learn times tables at school.

I hope everything goes well for you :goodvibes

When I did my psychology exam I did revision cards like the others have suggested and I also tried to do the story/linking thing that memory experts talk about and to this day I can still remember the facts I learnt using that method.
