Hints for BWV stay ?

We were lucky enough to get a standard view 1 bedroom for our Aug trip Any advice or helpfull hints? I've read that some rooms are very far from the elevators,but are there stairwells close to all the rooms? Any entrances besides the lobby? We are all able bodied and no young children so we won't be requesting a room close to elevators,(I believe in saving those for people who really need it,not convenience)but can anyone recommend a 1 bedroom standard room that they really liked? We will be walking to and from MGM and EPCOT as much as possible,how far to each and are there any shortcuts? TIA For some reason I think I'd like a higher floor better,what has been your experience?

When I book standard view, I request top floor, across from the bus stop and have not been disappointed. Those rooms have great Illuminations views. There are stairs at the entrance near the pond, under the round corner rooms.

When you walk to MGM, go out the "back way" by the quiet pool/Community Hall exits and you'll have a good headstart on your walk to MGM!

Only one way to get to EPCOT...down the elevator and out on the Village Green to the boardwalk. No shortcuts there!

Both are short walks (especially for able bodied people) and you will enjoy eliminating bus rides for half the WDW parks!

BTW, it's nice of you to avoid requesting close to the elevators to free those rooms up for someone else...very thoughtful.

Of course, that means you'll probably end up right next to them!

We were just stayed in a standard 1-BR in March and were in room 1105. I didn't think I would like being on the first floor, but our porch was surrounded by shrubs and trees so I could go out in the morning in my pjs without anyone noticing me. Like DebbieB mentioned, be sure to use the staircase and door at the corner of the building by the pond. It is much faster to get to the bus stop or parking lot than going to the lobby. Here is a picture of our room taken from the sidewalk leading to the the bus stop.

Our room was to the far right of the large red section behind the smaller tree.
