Yes, but the ad was for DVC,not DCL. The ad had all the usual DVC spiel,ad copy, along with the headline " Disneyland to Hawaii,to beyond your wildest dreams"
We are huge WDW fans and lifetime FL residents, but this year I was interested in seeing what the 50th celebration was all about at DL. We visited DL for our 1st anniversary, and we really enjoyed it. It is very charming, and does feel very magical, but it definitely does not feel the same as the MK to me. The poor castle...well, you've all seen the photos. I know I'm gonna get it for that , so I apologize in advance.
There were a few things that were better than WDW (Space Mountain-WOW!), and few things that weren't as great as WDW to us (prefer the MGM Fantasmic! show), and we were really underwhelmed by CA. We didn't even spend a full day there and still saw most of it. We enjoyed DL much more. CA just feels disjointed. I guess if we were California residents, we would get it.
But I totally second the posters above about Aladdin. That show is by far the best one I've ever seen on Disney property. Period. It was fabulous.
A DVC property in DL would be great. They need it, but I think it needs to be a brand new property. They are missing the resort magic that we have in WDW. We stayed in the PP resort, but it didn't feel very Disney. Sadly, I don't know if they have the room down there to do it.
All in all, I would suggest that any Disney fan who is able should experience DL at least once. We may go back one day.

Haven't seen DCA yet, but I felt the same way about the castle at DL. Having gone to WDW several times with its larger castle, the one at DL was kind of a let-down. I also didn't like the intrusion of the outside world from the surrounding buildings in the neighborhood. All that being said, New Orleans Square was great, had the best Monte Cristo sandwich of my life at DL, HM was tremendous, as was SM. Rode the Indy ride before I rode Dinosaur at AK and I think it is partly to blame for my dislike of the Dino ride. Having seen what is possible with the same ride tech at DL, Dino is a letdown. Sort of like my situation with the DL castle, but in reverse!
Because, I am a DVC member, and the value is much better at WDW. Besides that, DL doesn't real hold any allure to me. MK is not my favorite park and DCA is disliked by even the biggest fo DL fans. If that should change, or DVC offers a great value at DL, then I would consider it. Until then, I like the total immersion in Florida.
Big DL fan, AP holder and former cast member, love DCA! The main reason I got my husband to like Disney is that park. It has the feel of MGM to me. I know, a bit but I had to defend this too often misrepresented park! (Now I sound like DCA's lawyer or PR rep!)

We just got back from four nights at DL at Paradise Pier (cash not points) for the DL 1/2 marathon. Talked to a DVC guide while we were there and he said something is supposed to be announced Oct 1. I hope it's about a CA DVC because, while we wouldn't buy any more points, we would go there every few years. DL is fantastic. It's so compact. POTC is wonderful; I don't even need to go to WDW POTC anymore. It's so short compared to DL (the total theming and story is there, where in WDW you just get bits and pieces and they try to tie them together).
The DVC model at DL is located in a separate building over near the DL Hotel. Actually on the opposite side from DTD.
By the way, when we checked into Paradise Pier (very nice) our info was put into a DVC folder, like you get when you check into a DVC resort. Everyone got them. It freaked me out at first because I thought I was suddenly staying at a DVC resort paying cash.

I think that maybe the fact that is far from my favorite WDW park may have been my problem, but I was not in love with DL. I didn't feel as "remote" as I do at WDW where the real world is pretty far away.
My favorite parks are Epcot and AK and there is nothing like them in California so a DVC there doesn't hold much appeal.
