Hi!
We are taking Hilton Vacation Club up on their offer to put us up at the Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista for $110 for three nights (would have been $99 at the DD Hilton, but it wasn't available). We have to go on a Vacation Club tour on one of the mornings we are there.

Has anyone done this? How high pressure is the tour? Is it really going to take the full two hours? Will the kids be happy in the kid play area while we go on the tour?

We have done these tours before - I make sure to only go on reputable ones (Disney and Marriott). We have NO intention of buying a Hilton time share and I'm not affraid to tell them that upon our first handshake hello!

Will they ask us our annual combined income? My husband hates when they do that!

Any infor will be very appreciated

We are doing this the first weekend in Feb. We too are not interested in buying but are Hilton Honors Members and we are going to be down there anyways (7 day Disney magic cruise). I will let you know how it goes! ~Barb~

We are signed up for the Hilton Vacation Club tour in October and booked the Embassy Suites special. Just wondering how your trip went? (I know it's been a long time since your post, but I just found this thread on the search). Thanks! :goodvibes

We did this a while ago. Nice hotel but a little dated. Great breakfast, great staff, close to Disney and the kids liked the pool. Happy hour was OK, but not great.

The timeshare resort is very nice. I told the guy up front that we were not there to buy because we already owned Marriott timeshare and just wanted a few extra nights in Orlando. He tried to make us feel a little guilty - "Why are you coming if you don't want to buy?", but I said it was an obligation imposed by Hilton and I would leave if they wanted me to. Ended up on a tour, but it was low pressure and relatively painless. I would definitely stay at the resort if I had a chance, it is beautiful and has a good location.

We did this tour last month, but we didn't have the accomodations part - the tour was arranged at one of the 1,659,832 kiosks set up in the Orlando area pushing timeshares. We got park tickets in place of the accomodations.

The resort is very nice, and I was legitimately impressed. However, since I made the mistake of being "interested", the sales pitch was more high pressure than I'd have expected from Hilton. It wasn't bad, mind you, they just made every (and I mean every) effort to sell us on the spot. I think we were offered 2, maybe 3, "complimentary" trips (airfare & lodging) plus other perks (not insignificant, either) to get us to buy right then. I think it took nearly 3 hours. Telling them I don't make decisions on that big a purchase on the spot accomplished nothing, so you'll need a better line than that...even though for me it was true!

What kind of park tickets did you get?

We took advantage of a similar offer 2 years ago only we stayed at the Doubletree near Universal, and had our first hurricane experience the first night there. We had no interest whatsoever in a timeshare, but ended up buying. The HGVC property on I-Drive pretty much blew us away. The place is beautiful. The sales talk was not bad, the pressure was not bad, and we probably were in a good mood because our two kids were entertained by their staff for several hours; they had all kinds of snacks and the full run of a free arcade room. They were happy as clams, therefore we were relaxed and happy too. Because the Doubletree pool was closed due to hurricane damage the HGVC people told us to get our swimsuits and come back and spend the rest of the day at their pool. Which we did, and enjoyed every minute of it. If you want to end the timeshare spiel and get out of there, be up front with your salesperson and explain that you have to be somewhere at a certain time, and you simply have no interest in buying. Don't argue, just clam up. They can't do much if you won't talk to them. Good luck!

I'm an owner at Hilton, and yes they do ask your annual income. This year while down there I made the mistake of saying I was interested in buying more time. Well, I thought it was going to be hell, but I asked my few questions that I had, and I really rushed the whole ordeal. A bit of advice though, eat before you go. Especially if you want a real breakfast and it moves things along. They put you in a room where you can eat and more or less schmooz you instead of getting to the point. I happened to have known everything they were going to say because I am very into my timeshare and updated on the latest news, so that part of his pitch was out. He gave us a tour of the same thing we saw last year and all I really wanted to see were the corner 2 bedrooms and the regular 2 bedrooms. DH and I were having a debate about the 2. ( I won lol). Several people will come back and forth when you say no but I had to say no, because it just wasn't the price I was looking for. I can say this though, if you are in the market for a timeshare, but don't like their price, go to the Timeshare Resales on I-drive and the price will be half.

Overall I love my timeshare, and love the Hilton, but its not for everyone. As an added keep the kids with you, this way it will move things along quicker especially when they get antsy.

To the OP - what does DVC give you in return for tour?

At offsite TS, are younger teenagers usually prohibited on these type of tours (yes, I did decline to take the optional one @ SherVist LOL).

Not to hijack thread but, 2 Q's:

Do they run the tours early in the am only or can you schedule throughout the day?

Can you skip the breakfast & go straight to the tour?

Sometimes its best to keep the kids with you, even young teenagers, but especially young children.

I think the latest I was able to go was about 12:30, they might run them throughout the day.

I skipped the breakfast this year, grabbed a coffee that was about it. The tour doesn't start immediately but it did speed things up. The salesman kept asking if we wanted this or that food wise for awhile, until I piped up that last year it took over 4 hours to do this, and I don't want to waste any time so we ate breakfast first so we could get a move on things. I was on a tour to buy more time though, so they showed us a video of things I already knew about (updates and all). I left in the middle and said I already know all these things, and its really just wasting my time.

We are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and this was the latest time available I was told. Wish us luck getting out of there in our 90 minutes! Last time we did a time share tour DD was 6 months old and I thought "Great! She'll cry and we can get finished sooner!" Well, nooooo, she was the best baby for THREE hours. :rotfl2: She is 5 now and not so patient nor enthralled with her surroundings!

I think we got it because I called and requested a disney vacation planning DVD. Of course that was back in Feb. and now I have no idea of the phone # :) . Maybe 1-407-WDISNEY? Good luck :thumbsup2 !
