I didn't see where this had already been posted, so if I missed it - apologies in advance.

If you have 30,000 or more points with Hilton, you can swap those for a voucher which pays the application fee for TSA Precheck. I wasn't going to apply for the Precheck program, but this way the money didn't have to come directly out of pocket. The entire process, from ordering the voucher from Hilton to the actual application process for the TSA Precheck was as about as easy as anything gets these days.

I just thought I'd post this here in case anyone else was interested in taking advantage of their points with Hilton & applying for Precheck at the same time.

SWA made that offer too. But the value of the points needed far exceeded the $85 cost of the precheck.

Not the best use of your Hilton points. Since 30K points is worth over a $100 night stay at a Hilton. So you will be paying more for TSA by using your Hilton points than if you would have just paid the $85 in cash.

Didn't see the Hilton option, thanks.

Value is in eye of beholder IMO. Some have enough points that it's a drop in the bucket (I wish lol) plus points do expire, a way to use them up beforehand if you find yourself in that position.

That's my situation in a nutshell. I was happy to have an excuse to spend these points and cover our fees for the TSA precheck without any out of pocket costs!

Buy $10.00 worth of points and new expiration date is one year from the date of purchase.

/\ true same with pricier level w/SWA. Have read that renting a car using the corporate codes of either (to earn points via linking reward #) will also preserve existing ones in account.
