Anyone who is a HH member (we are), or who has stayed at HGV Sea World can I ask if this is something that normally happens or was this a one-off...

We stayed at Hilton Grand Vacations Sea World December of 2020. We had BOOKED a studio King room. About 3 days before our stay, we got an email from Hilton offering us to upgrade our room to a 1 bedroom suite for an extra $$ a night (IF that type of room had availability at check-in). We accepted the upgrade offer and there was indeed a 1 bedroom suite for us available at check in. We LOVED THIS ROOM.

Is this something that Hilton normally does for Honors members or at this particular resort? We are considering booking there again this December.

We haven't traveled much the last few years other than point bookings so I don't know if it is still common, but pre-covid we got offers almost every booking for some kind of upgrade or service for a "minimal fee". Note: We are Diamond so not sure how much that played in.

I saw this article, it might be a new system now ... but looks like it is a thing now.

It looks like Hilton Grand Vacations is one of the Hilton brands excluded from the automatic upgrade thing the article is citing. Also, our upgrade wasn't automatic...it was asking us if we wanted to pay for an upgrade for a nominal per night fee. It was about 72 hours prior to check in. We aren't Diamond/Elite status HH members. Perhaps the "do you wanna pay for an upgrade if available" thing is a regular thing?

I am booked at the HGV Tuscany in Orlando and there was a box I could check during booking if I wanted an upgrade ($15) if there was availability at check in. I am also a HH member.

Yes, for years we were always offered a variety of upgrades for a fee. It was a common thing at most destinations we went to. Overall they usually weren't worth it to us but yours sounds great.

And now they have this new program, I didn't know if it was replacing the old or complimenting it so figured I would share it.

Hi, As a Diamond member I often get these upgrade offers ( they can be called Nor1 or estandby upgrades) and these wil be subject to availability and a fee. I often do not select them as I am happy with the room booked and often I get a complimentary upgrade as a diamond when checking in ( or now get notified a day before). However as mentioned above the Hilton Grand Vacations do not participate in the complimentary upgrade so if you can select an upgrade and get it cheaper than booking it to begin with then well done

We were offered an upgrade for a fee at the Hilton Disney Springs. We did it and the room was nice, but we absolutely love the 1 bedrooms at HGV Seaworld.

I have used this option a couple times at other Hilton hotel properties. The price is always a little less than if you were to book the upgraded room as part of the original booking.

Check the Hilton app for your stay. That is where we always see the paid upgrade options if available. We also sometimes get an email, but if a paid upgrade is available it will show up in the app. It is very simple to request. As Diamond members we have requested the paid upgrade, received it and also not been charged. Never expect that to happen but sure is nice. Attached a screenshot of how it looks in the app.Screenshot_20220322-235617.jpg

The upgrade when available is one of the listed benefits of being a Diamond level member. Most everyone else has to pay.

How did you like this property? I've read mixed reviews-some people saying it is a zoo. Thanks!

WE LOVED it! Probably the nicest room we have stayed in on or off property. Wonderful staff. The pool was small but very quiet. We are planning to return. Great location.

And how are the walls? One person on tripadvisor said they could hear a couple..you know..and their 10 year old was confused. ?! yikes! I am a light sleeper, too. Thanks! We love Sea World and drove by the property last trip, which had me considering it. It is very affordable! Can you walk around the grounds? Do they have food on property?

We did not notice any noise from the surrounding rooms. The grounds are pretty and there is a restaurant on the other side of the parking lot (Bonefish?) And I think a pool area restaurant.
