We have received a recommendation for this place from a work colleague, and, other than a very recent damning review, Trip Advisor rates it highly.

Have any forum members who stay offsite used Homewood?

Thanks.

We stayed there last year and I can tell you,you are in for a treat! This is the most amazing 3 star hotel you will ever stay in. I saw that report and couldnt believe my eyes. The hotel is spotless amd I mean spotless. The staff are so polite and just cant do enough for you. The buffet breakfast is fantastic and the evening managers reception Monday to Thursday excellent too.I showed this to my kids and they just laughed! We are going back again this year and cant wait. Homewood is a total gem - no wonder it is No 7 in the list of Orlando hotels. What makes it even better is that our family are paying £58 per night to stay next August in this amazing hotel.
Dont worry at all. It is wonderful. I will stay in Disney (our 4th time) after 7 days at Homewood and the accommodation isnt half as good as Homewood. I hope this reassures you. :)

We have also stayed at the Homewood Suites, twice, April 2003 and August 2005. Its the first time we have stayed in a hotel more than once as we usually like to try different ones each visit. However, we were so impressed with it on our first visit we decided to stay there again.
As Maggs said, the service and standards at the hotel are absolutely brilliant (I think its a 4* hotel not 3 ). The staff go out of their way to ensure that you are happy and satisified with your visit and the accomodation itself is very modern, clean and comfortable. We were also happy with the breakfast buffet and managers reception as there was usually plenty of variety and everything was well stocked.

We would definetly stay in the Homewood Suites again!!
Highly Recommended! :teeth:

As someone who lives in the States and has stayed in more than one Homewood Suites (though not the one under discussion), I can verify that the chain as a whole lives up to the high standards already reported. These are new properties with rooms that are very well furnished. Only disadvantage is that the price is sometimes high for the number of beds you get, since rooms are so well furnished. But if you are looking for a hotel something like the DVC timeshares only more reasonably priced, Homewood Suites is a great option.

The 3-star vs 4-star raring should not be taken as a measure of quality; it's more a measure of the level of service provided. Since Homewood Suites do not (as far as I know) offer room service, valet parking, actual in-hotel dining, etc, they get a 3-star rating.

The only reason it isnt 4 star is because it doesnt have a restaurant. I would say if you have any doubts, dont have. It is like the others have said, a fantastic hotel!

A big thank you to Maggs, Chris and Eric for your comments. We were amazed at the family's comments which were so diametrically opposed to the vast majority of other Trip Advisor reviews.

We have made our minds up and will be seeking to book fourteen nights at the I-Drive Homewood. Let's hope there are some good sushi bars nearby. :)

I am arranging for next year what I guess might be the last holiday when all the family go together. Eldest daughter is sixteen this year and is showing signs of wanting to do her own thing!

After WDW we are planning a week near Clearwater at the Marriott Suites on Sand Key. This hotel earns reviews at a level similar to Homewood. It does make me laugh when people complain that it's not right next to a beach when there is evidence all over the web that it is not a beach hotel.

There's nowt so queer as folk!

Thanks again

John
