We are empty nesters and after looking at many different time share programs, decided to bite the bullet and buy into DVC. Our contract is signed and returned to Disney but we've not closed the deal yet. Decided on HH rather than an Orlando location as we live in Ohio, and it is a 1 day drive to HH if we decide that we don't want to fly to FL. We're pleased with our decision and interested in hearing from fellow HH owners or anyone who has anything they would like to offer about HH stays. Also, will it be difficult for us to book at an Orlando resort since HH is our "home resort"? Hoping to follow up at WDW in late June after a few days at HH.

here is a wonderful site by a fellow DVC

you should (never guaranteed) be able to get DVC resorts at 7 month period at WDW in June. The first two weeks of December might be a problem or at other low point times. the resort you can probably get will be OKW - I would expect BWV & VWL to be harder to get - they are closer to the parks so more in demand.

We really like Hilton Head, but have never been there in the summer when it is really busy. Today it has been very quiet. However the two food places at the Disney Beach House are now closed for the season, and the on site "Tide Me Over" is only open from 9 am - 2 pm.

It's extremely laid back and peaceful, which is part of why we like DVC at HH and Vero. They are great options versus the activity at DW.

We are also empty nesters, and elected Hilton Head because of the location. We are not Disney franatics - even though our daugher was a special Disney character for three years. We chose Hilton Head, and elect to visit in the off season. Even the off season has enough to keep us busy and we don't have to deal with a lot of the hustle and bustle of park vacationers. Please don't flame me because I have chosen a non-park vacation home, but we love to just relax and Disney Hilton Head gives us exactly what we want. I play golf and take advantage of the off season rates to play some courses I could never afford to play during peak periods. Swimming and pool hopping is not big for us. Never even been in the pool at HHI, but love the hot tub.

Thanks to all who have taken time to reply to my post and answer some DVC questions for me. Tommy, we have been to your web site and will check it often for updates and new photos.
We have booked 4 nights at HH in late June and are looking forward to seeing our "new home". Have not been to HH since 1995 and am sure there are many changes. Once DH retires in 3 or so years, we too will be visiting HH and WDW in the off seasons.
