Just booked a three night stay at HH and it'll be our first time visiting. Does anyone have any recommendations of activities, restaurants, shopping, etc. that we shouldnt miss? Should I add on another night? Our group consists of six adults and one 10 year old. Thanks!:)

We love skull creek boat house. Going to get a t shirt this year for next year fantasy cruise. We love bike riding and just hanging out at the resort!

Checked out their website and the place looks like something we'd enjoy. Thanks!

Do you like super-casual seafood? If so, I recommend the Sea Shack. Do you like nature? If so I recommend Sea Pines Forest Preserve and Pinckney Island (walk out to the first little rookery pond on the right-can't remember the name). Don't ask me if you should add another night. I'd say "Yes" no matter how many nights you already have booked!

Didn't look up your dates but Eat! (Robert Irvine) has 1/2 price tapas on Tuesday night, and Orchid's One Hot Mamas has a reasonable, not fancy, Sunday Brunch.

And go to anything offered by B'lue Crabbe!

We also made great tye-die Mickey shirts.

If your 10yo loves boats, dolphins & wildlife in the area...definitely book the dolphin excursion thru the rec window...the boat leaves from the adjacent marina w/Capt Scott & was awesome! Enjoy HHI!

We love Skull Creek Boathouse too. Went there twice last trip. Casual but very good food and great view of the marsh especially at sunset.

The Sage Room was nice for a fancy dinner.

We tried to get into Eat on Tuesday night but they were booked by the time we got there.

The Salty dog is fun with the obligatory t shirts.

Highly recommend Roastfish and Cornbread. Amazing low country cooking.

We had a great time on the kayak tour from the resort. I forget our guides name, but he runs mainly through Disney. He was a self proclaimed foodie that recommended The Sage Room to us. He was interesting and fun to chat with during the tour with lots of historical info about the island. Plus it was fun to go with other DVCers and chat Disney with them.

Have fun. We love DHHI.

Great food in a casual setting. She does a buffet for some meals and you order off the menu for others. The website spells it all out. You WILL need a reservation. This is because she cooks everything from scratch every day and only makes what she will need for that day. Call and if you don't get her on the phone, just leave a message. She will get it. She is a one woman operation and cannot always answer the phone.

If you do go, tell her that Linda and Lisa sent you!

We will be there for the first time the day after you 8/2-8/5 for 3 nights....

We would love to hear more advice....how is the Beach House....?

Can we rent kayaks at the resort? What about the stand up paddling, I saw this in someones photos?

Wishing and praying to add on another night...tough to get it in the summer.

We have heard great things about the restaurants...

Thanks everyone...

have a great trip looks like you are doing a lot on this trip...enjoy!!:thumbsup2

Yes, I read about this place a couple of days ago but didn't realize I should make reservations. Thanks so much for the tip, I've added it to my to do list.:)

Yes, we have lots planned and I was fortunate to get a great cash rate through MS for a 2 bedroom . WDW wasn't initially in the plans but being only a few hours away I added it on for after HHI. I had pretty much settled on BCV but when I called MS this morning, they no longer had a discount available for a 1 bedroom villa so I went ahead and booked OKW. At least OKW has larger rooms, so that's a plus but BCV carries sentimental value. Our first trip to WDW back in '04 we stayed at BC. My husband passed away last month so it means a lot to my sons and I to be able to stay there. I'll keep checking with MS to see if something opens up or maybe an AP rate will be released for July.

BBN1122, I haven't looked into renting a kayak yet but I know they have kayak excursions. Its also recommended to contact HHI about a week before your arrival so you can ask them to fax you a list of activities during your stay.:)

Come to Savannah...spend Money :)

Rent Bikes and ride around the island.

Have to go to Signe's.

You MUST eat at either Signals or Tide Me Over at least once. Get a Joyce Burger(if Joyce is cooking...otherwise it's just a burger...but a real good one) with Onion rings. Once a trip is enough.

Pinckney Island is quite beautiful.
