How is Hilton Head over spring break? Weather? Is it hard to book..looking for exactly 1 year from now.

Thoughts.

We have gone two years in a row for spring break. The weather that time of year is iffy. 2 years ago it was cool and rainy the whole time, this year it was mid to high 70's and sunny. This year's weather is about the best you can expect, most likely it will be somewhere in between the two years. It is not crowded at all that time of year which I like.

We were just there the last week of March. The weather was variable. It was cool and breezy one day then bordering on hot the next then back to breezy and on the cool side the next. We just took it as it came and adjusted our activities accordingly. Crowds were light when we were there. The ocean was pretty cold but there were people in it anyway. Not me! On the warm sunny days walking in the waves at the edges of the beach was okay since the rest of me was warm though. mostly, we stuck to the pools and spa.

We booked a 2 bedroom at exactly 7 months out. When we checked in, we were told the resort was full but I don't know if that was just for that night or the entire week. It didn't seem crowded at all.

We went this year, and I only booked it in January. I did have book two different rooms. It was a comfortable crowd.

Next year at this time, there will be a PGA Tour golf tournament on Hilton Head:
The 45th RBC Heritage will take place April 15-21, 2013 at the Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island. Make plans now to “Get Your Plaid On!”
It's big deal on the island (local schools align their spring break with the tournament), but I'm not sure how it impacts the DVC HHI resort. The tournament happens in Sea Pines and makes that area very busy.

We went last year for the Heritage. It also happened to be Easter week. The CMs at the front desk told me that the combination of the two made things busier than usual, but the Herotage alone doesn't ordinarily have a great impact on the resort. Just stay away from Sea Pines!

We were there last year during the golf tournament. It really started towards the end of our week, so we went to sea Pines in the beginning of the week, and stayed away at the end, but I would say other than that it had no impact at all on our vacation. No crowds, no traffic, no long waits at restaurants, it was like every other April or June week we've been there.

The weather that week did happen to be perfect. 78-82 and sunny all week long. Gorgeous weather.

We plan on booking also for next year third or last week of March. Hoping not to have a problem. I don't mind a bit cool, and a just a bit of rain here and there :)
