Big Bamboo Cafe--sounded neat in the brochure! Looking inside, it was about the side of a shoebox and had over a 2 hour wait! NOT! :sad2: Could be wrong, but didn't seem worth that kind of a wait--especially with 7 hungry kids (not all mine:eek: --3 families!)
The food on our couple of visits has been only so so as well.

this is from a outside company thay will dropoff & pick up. With some if you book in advance that take $5.00 off.just search the web foe HHI bike rentals there are about5 of them.

We really liked San Miguel's--yes it is in Shelter Cove, we ate outside and on the weekend they had live entertainment!

How about Marley's???? It was DH's ABSOLUTE favorite place--he had seafood, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. Their pina coladas come in a half coconut--how cool is that?:worship:
DH and I have decided Marley's and Tapas are definites!

Big Bamboo..well a few years ago, we went there along with Lisa(DVCFamily41801) and family and it was a comedy of errors, spilled drinks, food was eh and to top it off my then 2 year old peed out in his shorts while asleep, so I had to run downstairs to a store and get a $40 pair of shorts for him to change into. LOL

How are meals for kids, ds is 6? Glad to hear about the pizza place. Hopefully kids menus have chicken fingers. Any one ever use the grills at the resort to make lunch/dinners? I think we may do that one night. I hear the Piggly Wiggly (if I got that correct) is a good place to grocery shop.
Thanks for the pic of Tide Me Over!!

Oh my, look at our babies!
My Matt really was just a baby! LOL I had to chase after him constantly at the pool, he kept wandering under the porches of the nearby villas. He drove me nuts.
It's much more relaxing now that they're older.:woohoo:

It was VERY fun-and I think I remember I forgot to order Julia's dinner, (mom of the year here) and she ended up sharing your Matt's pizza.
Oh no, wait that was at HH Brewing Company. LOL

Thanks for the pic of Tide Me Over!!

I prefer the Publix(there are at least 2 that I know of), but I still go to the Piggly Wiggly once for a forgotton item or two just so I can say to DH, "I'm gong to the Piggly Wiggly".:rotfl: I love it.

The meals at Tide Me Over you mean?
They di have chicken fingers(and they are so good!)
Here's a link to the menu:

ETA: I have not used the grills, but I have seen other people using them, it's a good idea!
Maybe we'll see you there, are you going the week of the 1st?-we have a 6 year old son, too!

They have a place called Tide Me Over at the resort, by the pool. It's just carry out, with picnic tables set up.. I think I have a picture:

they serve breakfast and lunch and very early dinners. LOL

Shelter Cove is a short walk and has a few restaurants, a deli.
There's a Fuddruckers and an Italian restaurant/pizza place type called Guiseppes within bike riding distance.

We're bringing the kids bikes, but am not sure about our own, if I could find out how much it was to rent, I may just rent there.

Last Thanksgiving, it was still $50 for 2 bikes for length of stay. I think it's $10 for each additional bike, so you may want to just pay for the kids rather then lug them. I'd call and ask as your vacation gets closer. We just got one for Cara, so $25 for our 4 days.

Little Venice - we tried this one twice in 2007. I liked the food the first time, and second time, it was just okay. I'll definitely go again as it is pretty reasonable. There is also a red sauce italian place in Pineland Station that we thought was okay. I can't remember the name, but it's just after the bakery there. Sunset Grill is always excellent. I love everything I get there.

We've been going for 11 years to Disney's HH and I've never gone to OOF. Just looked at it across the marsh through binoculars. I also want to try Scott's and Boathouse.

Have a great visit!

Oh I know its much easier now!!! I still look at that last picture and just crack up!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: THAT WAGON!!! It was everywhere.l Even Shadow was a baby in our pictures!;)

We ate at Boathouse II with a party of 16, and it was great. We had a coupon from the paper that the desk handed out at check in.

I had wanted to try the Old Oyster Factory this trip, but maybe I will try somewhere else.

Great pics from all of you. Is the wagon a good idea to bring with? We always take the wagon when we go to Ocean City. Great for the boardwalk. I often check out the allears site, but didn't realize that HHI was on. I will have to check out the menu. We check in Sun June 1. Our son will miss the last day of school, but it's only a half day that Monday. We already took him out for 4 days in Sept to go the Disney cruise. I'm not sure how much food to pack to take with. I may end up doing shopping when we arrive. I was just excited to get HHI. Seems as summer months are really hard to get. I'm hoping to get a good shrimp meal for me and DH eats all kinds of seafood.
Thanks again
Carla

There is a great thread on the DIS called Hiltonhead Lovers started by Laurabearz. Try to search for it. You will find lots of info that all of us have
posted over the years. I think it even has a link to a separate thread about Hilton Head restaurants. Hope you can find it.:) I will try to pull it up and bump it to the top of the list:)

Ok, I was able to bump two threads: Hilton Head Lovers and HH Restaurants. Both are under the Disney Vacation Club Planning I think. Hope this gives everyone a little bit more info. Now, I will have to re-read these too for our trip in June!:cool1:

Thanks!! Yeah if it's just the $10 for the kids, I'd rather just rent. I'll definitely call.

We're pulling our kids out for the whole week.

We don;t get out until late June, like the 27th, and my husband can't take off in July, didn't want to wait until August so we did June 1-7, I think we'll be between field day and the end of the school stuff for the kids, so they won;t miss anything special...I hope.

Anyway, so we'll see you there-we'll be the family with the boy pretending to be Anakin..or Luke Skywalker..or Darth Vader, LOL. He's a Star Wars nut.

The wagon wouldn't be a bad idea, though there's not a lot of walking at the resort, it's pretty compact-you could bring it around to the marina, my two are way too heavy to haul around now. We never had one, and it was fine, so either way you;re good.

Thanks. We will be on the look out for your Star Wars boy. My DS is a water boy. We will be by the pool or in the ocean most of our stay.
