Well, I convinced my parents since they were driving down and have a few extra points to spend they should stop at Hilton Head and check it out (and let me know how it is). They decided to actually go a day early so they could spend 2 nights there. So my questions:

1) They will be staying in a studio. Any requests that they should make as far as view or location? (I know this is not gauranteed)

2) Anything I should tell them they just have to do?

3) How long does it take to drive from there to WDW?

Thank in advance!

HH studios have either marsh or island views. (I like the Marsh View better.) There are only 21 studios and 16 of those are in the lodge area.

The Dolphin Cruise is great and "A Private Affair" is the best kept secret of DVC (it's a private dining expereince prepared by the resort chef- advance reservations are suggested, but not always needed. Call the resort for details for their dates.)

It's about a 5 hour drive right up I-95. Get off at exit 8 in SC and it's an easy drive to the resort from there.

They'll have a great time. The resort has a lot to offer! :)

I think all the views will be very nice. The "Marsh" view would be my only request, if any.

Relax and enjoy the "feel" of the resort. Visit the beach house. It's great!

I'm guessing about 8-9 hours. We stayed at a KOA near HH a few years ago when we took our motorhome to WDW. By car I bet you could get there in 8 hours (or less).

We just returned from HH. I don't think I'll be making any room requests next time we go. We were in 3012 which was on the far end away from the lodge. It was very quiet and relaxing. The pool was just a 2 minute walk.

I'm so glad we bought there!

We stayed in a studio with a marsh view over T'giving. We loved it! It was #1814. We felt very close to everything and I would happily stay there again.

I have a question... how long does it take to get to HH from I-95? We'd be coming from the Philadelphia area, so wondering how many more hours of driving it would take to stop at HH. Thanks!

sters -- we just did the drive for Thanksgiving from northern DE --16 hours going down (95 shut down due to bad accident) and just less than 12 hours coming back. We found it to be about 1/2 hour from 95 to the resort, I believe. There was no traffic either direction on that part of the trip.
Awesome place!

Tell them to make sure that they take a night light. It gets dark in the room/bathroom at night and we always have to carry our own plug in nightlight (Dollar Store - $1.00).

I believe that that there is a 2-BR lock-off underneath each of the grand villas. If this is true, I would request the studio that is in building 18. It has a great marsh view. 2 days will be a perfect rest-up before WDW. Last January, we drove to HH for one night and went to WDW the following day. The drive was about 5.5 hrs.

I wish I had a long list of things to do on HH, but everytime we've been there we almost never leave the resort and/or beach house. If your parents like to dine-out (and splurge a little), I highly recommend a Private Affair with Chef Gordon. It is an absolutely wonderful evening. Even for two!!

Terry...HH is a great contrast to a WDW vacation. Your kids are probably at a perfect age for a HH trip. The CMs there are the absolute best. We've had a blast staying there even in January. We swam in the pools and even splashed in the ocean.

6 nights...2-BR...98 points...Plenty of relaxation.

You will have to give it a try...:smooth:

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions, I was able to make the reservation for 2 nights for my parents.

Johnnie.... Sounds like a real relaxing time. Maybe we will have to check into that for our family too!
