Hi guys! In lieu of doing a full blown trip report, I decided to do a Photoshow. It's kind of a trip report via photos and music. There will be two different versions posted here. We wanted to use one with a song that is special to us, but you can only view that version if you have a cable modem. I think the MP3 file is just too big for dialup. :(

Here's the link for that... http://www.nsgllc.com/html/Disney's_Hilton_Head_Island_Resort/flash_detected.html

There is another version for if you have a dialup modem. It just uses a Photoshow MP3 and I think not as many cool transition effects.

I hope you enjoy viewing these. It's almost like online scrapbooking. :D

We had a great time in HHI! Disney's resort is absolutely beautiful. The cast members there are superb, and they make it so much fun. We enjoyed great meals at Giuseppi's, Captain's Seafood, and Sticky Fingers. We had an OK, but probably won't return there meal at Old Oyster Factory. The kids meals there were almost inedible. Scott Henry's dolphin tour was incredible! He is so friendly and knowledgeable. This is definitely worth doing. :D Scott is doing the tours for Disney now, and he has his own website at www.lowcountrynaturetours.com

We'll definitely be going back to DHHIR again!!! :D

Oh, I'm also working with Tagrel to put together a full blown Tagrel style slideshow. It'll have even more pictures of the resort. Hopefully it'll be up in a few days. :D

Alica.

Thanks showing your pics. I was there before you, I think. Those pics make me want to go back. Have you decided when you are going to return?? I'll be there on May 26th-29th. :) Thanks again!

That was wonderful. I thought HH would be good for a no kids trip but after seeing how happy your kids look I just might have to bring them.

Wow, great show! It makes me want to go back and explore more of what Disney has to offer.

My DH and I were there the first weekend in June for our 20th wedding anniversary. A short 4 days, but it was nice. We stayed in building 30, at the end of the drive.

Did you and the kids get to see any fiddler grabs on the beach? They are so fascinating. Hundreds of them make it look like the sand was moving under your feet.

Thanks for the show!

:teeth:

Awesome slide show! Thank you so much for sharing -- I think I'm going to have to save that link for when I need a HH fix!

Alica,

That slide show was awsome. We've been to HHI once for one day on a stop over on our way to WDW but are going for Thanksgiving and spending a few days there to relax and enjoy the resort.

Thanks for giving us the insight and pixc of the place.

Thanks for the photos. We visited HHI this past July and loved it. DD met a fellow vacationing at the resort, with his family, who lives 6 miles from our home. Divine guidance?- I think so. Yes, they are now dating. Disney's HHI will always be special to our family.

Alicia - I'll have to check out the picture show at home tonight but I wanted to thank you for sharing with us how much fun you had at Hilton Head. My husband and I will be there in about 3 weeks and we are so excited. I have a running list of stuff I can't wait to do and whenever work gets to be a bit much I think of my "top 10 list at HH". Can you give me some more details as to why you and your family didn't particular care for the Old Oyster Factory? That's at the top of my list of restaurants to try. I know food is a subjective topic but if the service or quality of the food is that bad, there are tons of other places to eat. Speaking of places to eat where's Captain's Seafood and was the food really good? Thanks so much!!!

Thanks, guys! The Photoshow was definitely a labor of love, and our family created memories that will last a lifetime. :D

tinkgrl, we haven't decided when we'll make our return trip. We're taking our first trip to WDW as DVC owners next October, but I'm not sure I can wait that long for another vacation. We'll have to see how that one plays out. ;)

mom2rb, I think DHHIR would be a great place for an adults only vacation, but believe me...there is PLENTY for the kids to do. The CMs are great, and they have activities everyday.

Nink, we didn't see any fiddler crabs at the beach. :( We did see a bunch of tiny crabs up on the muddy part of the marsh at high tide. It was really cool to watch them.

Rumple Mom, How cool is that about your DD! At least you know she's in good company if the young man's family likes to vacation at DVC resorts ::yes::

ZerasPride, please don't change your dinner plans for the Old Oyster Factory. You are right...dining experiences are so subjective. I had the filet mignon there, and it was excellent. My DH and I also shared the tomato and vidalia salad which was out of this world. My DH said his seafood was fine, it was just the kids seafood which was sub par. They hardly touched it, and my DH confirmed that it wasn't very good. The service was very good, the restaurant is large, so we were seated right away, and the many windows offer a great sunset view of the marsh. I think you could have a fine meal there.

Captain's Seafood is on your right just a short way when you pull out of the resort onto Hwy. 278. They have a fish market, and indoor and outdoor dining. The food here was awesome! The kids ate ever morsel on their plate, and I could have eaten a dozen of their crab cakes. Scott Henry had mentioned to us that he had a soft shell crab there for lunch recently, so I figured if the locals dined there...plus all the good reviews on the DIS...glad we tried it.

Giuseppi's was probably the most meal for our money. We had fantastic calzones and greek salad there. We got a lot for a small amout of money. The food was very fresh and delicious.

Sticky Fingers was a lucky find. I was in the mood for BBQ, so we gave it a shot even though I hadn't heard much about it. Wonderful! I had a rib sampler with 4 different styles, and DH had the Tennessee trio of pulled pork, ribs, and bbq chicken. I would highly recommend this place.

I hope you enjoy the photos when you can view them at home. I think they'll give you a sense of what to expect at HH. Have a great trip! :D

HH is our home resort. We have been going there since we joined in 2001 but we spend most of our time right at the resort itself and haven't done much exploring. Since it's just DH and I this time, we plan to venture out a bit more. We have had the pizza at Guissippe's and like it a lot - I never thought about trying the calzones - you make them sound so good, we might try them when we're there. Also the Fuddrucker's thats across the parking lot has great burgers and we usually make that our first night dinner spot. Captain's Seafood sounds wonderful, perhaps we'll give it a try too. Thanks for your reviews and letting me know your food at the Old Oyster Factory was good. I'm really looking forward to trying it out.

I'll be sure to check out your photoshow this evening when I can share it DH. Thanks again!!!!

that was super

What a great time! You were just there? The weather looks just perfect!

You really captured the essence of HHI. We are looking forward to our next trip there in March.
