Hilton Head New Year's

NYE visitors, please report how your trip was. We always go over Thanksgiving, but we may have to make a change. I'd love to hear how New Years would be.

We'll be there, too. We were there for NYE in 2007 as well. They have a rather low key party around the pool with a "ball drop" using a ball made by the kids in one of the kids activities. There is also a little dance party around the pool based on our experience in 2007. I walked over about 11:30 pm as I recall and the resort was pretty quiet for the most part.

We had a studio booked for that week (Dec. 29-Jan.2) , but at 31 days out we canceled....we thought we were going to be moving that week...but now we're not. UGH!

The last time we went, several years ago, they only had a couple of kids parties at the Beach House. It was nice for the kids. Plus I recall some New Year's Day activities - "snowball" fight & football game on the beach.

Actually looking forward to something "low key"! :)

We've gone the last 3 NYE's, but couldn't get a Grand Villa this year. I'd love to say it really stinks so no one books it next year, but the resort does lots of fun activities. There is a kids party (for $) that ends at 11:30 on NYE. Then they do a dance party at the pool for adults and kids. During the week, we made pillows, enjoyed smore's around the campfire, and went on a pirate scavenger hunt. We really are going to miss going this year.

We'll be there, rolling in on NYE until the 3rd.., see you there! What ages is the kids' party for?

We have spent a few xmas weeks at HHI. this year we will be there for one night 1/1/10 on our drive back to boston rom our OKW visit(12/27-1/1/10). Just planning on watching football and relaxing, but the resort has alot going on during that time.

Connears

Just received a fax with the activities - pretty much the standard resort activities over the course of the holiday.

NYE - Three different kids' parties based on ages (3-7, 8-12, & 13-17) @ $35 (teen party is $25). Fourth annual ball dropping @ the pool deck is at 11:30.

Looking forward to several days of relaxation!!

Thought about calling to see if they could email the activities to me. Is there anyway you can scan and email it if they can't? I would really appreciate it. Our oldest has ADHD, and if she knows what to expect, it will make our time go easier! We're checking in on Wed, maybe we'll see you there! :thumbsup2

Sent you a PM.

Just returned home from a fun family Christmas visit. We were there 12/26 to 12/29. My son had fun at the Mickey tie-dye shirt event but was disappointed that the gingerbread making was filled up. We were told that the resort was booked solid for the New Year's Eve weekend. We had an awesome time even though the weather was colder than past years. Our new family favorite was to get take-out from a restaurant and enjoy it at the Beach House. We had the place to ourselves! Big screen tv, arcade for the kids, and dinner by the fire.

We were too!! However we decided we wanted to wait and try HHI in the summer and we also wanted to SAVE SOME MOOLA.

We spend Dec 31st at the resort.

Had a great time, even with the rain. Thursday was actually so nice a day that we were kicking ourselves for not taking our bathing suits.

The Ball Drop party was fun, full of energy, and had a little too much alcohol for my liking.

We were also disturbed by the CM who ran the flag down the pole, dragged the flag through some puddles on the pool deck and then proceed to dance with her fellow CMs with the flag draped over her shoulders. A letter to management about proper flag etiquette is forthcoming.

Besides that, we had a great time and I took lots of photos.

Have some video of the party too. I'll post it on You Tube soon.

Please do write to management and let us know the outcome. I suspect management will respond. HHI has always been known as being relatively responsive to its guests, and its CMs have always been very respectful and friendly. I hope management responds to this one.

We will. I have the name of the manager and if not, we'll go up to DVC central.
(It pays to be a reference Librarian).

We were quite stunned at the behavior. We were even more stunned as the CM just kind of shrugged off our complaints.

I don't think Walt would like disrspecting the flag, even out of ignorance.

Wow, we totally missed that! The ball drop was tons of fun. We were the family all in Virginia Tech clothes, our little one was probably the youngest one there. Let me know if you get you tube video up, I'd love to see if we show up. Totally oblivious to the alcohol, too... Guess I was just too wrapped up in the kids. Both of my girls went to the NYE parties, loved it!

The kids had a great time. We made vacation pillows, shark tooth necklaces, Mickey Tie Dyes, went to a butterfly program, 2 campfires, magic show... It was loads of fun. No, I take that back. It was boring. Miserable. Don't even try to get it at 8 months out next year. Too boring. heee heee
