Does anyone know which characters show up at HHI?

Can our daughters expect anything "Disney?" or is HHI a golf resort?

Thanks.

PS we are hoping to go for a week in august 2004...

I can't remember seeing characters at HH, although it's possible they've had some. I go quite often, several short trips a year. That said, HH is not a golf resort per se, but you certainly have good access to golf from the resort.

HH however is a different kind of Disney resort. The 'Disney' is in the way things are done. You will get Disney touches when you do the kids activities with them, like Goofy bingo or going to the campfire and they do some stuff with Disney themes.

HH is a family resort, in the way that Disney is a family place to go. While you are at HH you do not miss the parks or the characters; you enjoy what is there.

HH is one of the resorts that our family owns at and it is overall our favorite. We will do three separate weeks there this year. I've not really heard too many people say they didn't have a great and relaxing time there, but I have to admit I'm biased on this one and probably wouldn't even notice a negative comment!:earsgirl:

no characters at HH except for "Shadow" the dog. However, they won't miss the characters. My kids love this resort with the campfires, magic show, puppet show, bike riding, horseshoes, great pool slide, etc. And I also agree, very relaxing!!

No characters, but have her answer the phone when you leave a wake-up call. Last year I was so excited to hear Mickey telling me "Up and at 'em, pal!", just like at WDW.

When I called last week, I was told there was no weeklyavailibilty for either July or August in any size room so I hope you have your ressie already.

I'm calling tomorrow to cancel a 2 bedroom for August 6, I hope that helps someone. I feel very fortunate to have gotten 5 days at the 7 month window. We are oing to HH for the first time and am hoping this trip will convince my Dh to buy a resale there!!!

Really? I called yesterday and was able to get my first choice of 9 nights in a one bedroom staring August 26.

That's because most Southern schools will already be back in session. Here in Atlanta, we will already have been back in school for two weeks by then! (But, we also get out by Memorial Day...)

Shucks... by then, ds will be getting his first set of mid-term grades! Everyone knows that summer in the south begins on Memorial Day, and ends around the first of August! ;)

I grew up in MA, and, even as a parent, I think there should be a law against starting back to school before Labor Day! I have to admit that I enjoy the return of peace and quiet though, and the 1 1/2 - 2 weeks we get off in October are nice!

Actually, given the theme at HH, Disney should cut a deal with Warner Brothers so they can have Foghorn Leghorn walking around the resort.

:hyper:

isn't there that shrub shaped like Winnie the Pooh??? I know not a real character - but better than nothing!

Actually the fake Pooh and Tigger topiaries have now been replaced by Bambi and Thumper. Has to do with the lawsuit filed by A. A. Milne's heirs for more royalties on Pooh.

There is a hidden Mickey in a "real" shrub, though.

Thanks, I'm so looking forward to seeing the new topiary. Actually the shrub isn't so hidden. It's right in front of the main lodge. I'd love to do that to one of my bushes sometime.

I am also looking to plan a week at end of August. Trying to figure out the most economical way of getting there. What airport would be less expensive from Boston? I'm thinking because HHH is small, it'll probably cos more to fly into. We're OK with driving an hour or two from airport as well.

Thanks for any tips.

Sue

The closest major airport to HHI is Savannah. And you might want to look into flying out of Manchester or Providence also. I don't know if Southwest flies out of Boston, but I know they fly out of the other two and sometimes have good fares.

We are also looking to fly out of boston (or pvd) but our problem is that no one flies nonstop to savannah or HHI. :( Please post if you find something that works well out of MA. Thanks!
