Hilton Head Island Resort refurb?

We made our first stay here last January and had a wonderful relaxing stay. About the only complaint was the uncomfortable furniture. Does anyone know if they have recently completed any refurbishments to the rooms? We currently have another stay planned for next month. Thanks for any info, we look forward to another great stay.

We can tell you that we were there last month and the furniture was still ver uncomfortable. DH said the same thing-"Hope they're going to switch out this [couch, chair, etc.}-it really needs it".

This has been a complaint at DHHIR for YEARS! You think this couch is uncomfortable? You should have sat on the couch they had before. I think it's nickname was "Ejecto-couch."

We managed to snag a grand villa for late April. Yippee! Can’t wait… I was trying to find a map or list that shows which buildings have which unit types, Or, which buildings have grand villas. Couldn’t find anything. Anyone have that info please?

On our last trip, we ended up with a 2 BR with the deck that was right next to, and at the same level as, the top of the slide for the pool. Unquestionably the noisiest unit we’ve ever had. We’d like to make a room request to try to be as far away from the pool as possible this time.

There are usually 5 grand villas ...... buildings 16,18, 19, 28 and 30. That being said, when we were visiting in September they removed Building 30 from inventory to start re-furb work. They were actually in there every day making lots of noise and apparently working on the new space and making important decisions about the new furnishings. Can‘t wait for it to be finished!

The refurb to HHI started months ago in Bldg 30, but only in two rooms (a studio and a 1BR). Those are the test rooms and are not open to be reserved.

As for GVs, yes, those are located only in buildings 16, 18, 19, 28, and 30. None are particularly close to the pool. The farthest away is 16 though it is still within a 2-minute walk. For reference, your 2BR location was Bldg 25. It's easy enough to pull up a map of DHHIR to see the locations of the buildings relative to the pool. Have a great vacation!

I wouldn't hold my breath. . .certainly no time soon and perhaps later than anyone currently expects.

That’s disappointing I think I’ll hold off going back until it’s refurbed bc the only comfortable furniture left is the bed and balcony rockers!

We have a reservation in mid-September and received an email a couple of weeks ago saying construction would be going on during our stay but not between dusk and 9:00 a.m. Unless they have changed their minds, sounds like refurbishment will start this year.

We were at dhhir for the 4th of july and saw the delivery of some appliances during our stay.

We are going in mid-October, so I will update if I get an email/phone call about the refurb.
