We are thinking about going to HHI in June for a few days. I hope some people out there can answer some questions. What is there to do? We have 2boys (10 & 9) What is a good length of time to stay there? Where are there places to eat? Any one who has been there and wants to share there ideas, please post them. TIA:)

I don't know if your boys like to fish, but that's all my boys (13 and 11) want to do. They fished from the pier 24/7 and we did a fishing excursion which was a lot of fun. We went in July, and summer is the best time to catch sharks. The link the pp sent has lots of information. You will LOVE HHI! We loved it so much, we came back home and added on!

HHI location has a whole program established for kids: fishing off fishing bridge, kayaking , and there is a nature trip to the local wild life sanctuary that the whole family can go to, there are sometimes Magic Shows and story time in Murgie's Den. (you can check with staff ahead of time) plus bond fires. HHI is the place of restuarants...and the local phone book has PAGES of such listings...some list dishes and prices also. It has a walkway over the bridge over the marina and there are restaurants there also. There is serious name brand shopping at the many outlet groupings also. HHI has a pool at the resort with water slide/ and a beach house where another pool and the beach are accessible. (you can call for a shuttle to the beach house) GOOD LUCK and enjoy!

You asked for how long to stay - personally we can't stay shorter than five days and we typically like to stay seven. (If points allowed, I'd stay longer)!!

HHI is a relaxed family oriented resort with loads of activities at the resort itself plus a whole island filled with boating, kayaking, tennis, golf, horsebackriding, mini-golf, shopping, swimming, sailing, biking, and of course there really awesome beach. Our family LOVES HHI and returns there every summer for a fun filled sun soaked week.

There are restaurants galore all over the island as well as grocery stores to stock your villa.

The cm's at HHI are the BEST!! Really, I mean that. The recreational staff plans lots of fun activities for kids, teens, and family groups and they are just very friendly and super helpful.

Thank you to all so far for all the answers. We have a WDW trip planned for Sept. 4th - 11th and are only using 1/2 of our points we have for '10 ( 140, b/c we banked 40 from this year), so we were thinking of a 3 night 4 day trip to HHI- so we can check out another DVC resort. We were thinking of the first weekend in June (right after school gets out). We have a month to establish a plan, 7 month booking in December. We were planning on driving (15 hr. trip from northern Indiana), so we would have a car to go outside of the resort, if needed. Here is another question, a previous poster already mentioned, length of stay- is 3 nights to short???:confused3

Aside from the long drive I don't think 3 nights is too short a trip. Be sure to go offsite to Shelter Cove, there are many things to see and do there.

June July and early August are the hardest to get at 7 months. We added on at HHI just to get 11 month window for summer. that said, early June is easier as is if you want a 2 bdroom. Sun-thurs are harder than weekend nights, but if you are flexible it is not impossible. We have been in early June. late June. mid July and August. The beach is amazing the resort relaxing and the restaurants on HHI are wonderful..too many to post. The resort activites for kids are extensive and there are some for adults also. There are firworks at Shelter Cove on Tuesdays in the summer and you can see them from the resort. We are returning this June (6-9) and we have been for the last 4 summers! Hope you are successful in getting your reservations.

We love, love, LOVE HHI! It is such a great family vacation! Try to be sure to stay over on a Tuesday night when there are fireworks in Shelter Cove. Disney throws a big party that is like a carnival with face painting, balloon animals, dancing, and lots of hokey games. We have been twice, and both times I wrote TRs with loads of photos and descriptions of all there is to do. The links to both are in my sig-

Good luck!!

Your 7 month booking window is open NOW for early June travel; for first weekend in June 2010 ( first weekend is June 5/6 ) you can call to make reservation on this coming Thursday November 5th.

jmho, I wouldn't wait until December to book because June is popular.

Your right, I guess I was not counting right. My mind is still at Disney:rotfl:

I called Saturday for a studio from May 30 checking out June 4. Only May 31 thru June 4 th was open. I got the last studio. I don't know how big your accomodations are that your looking to book, but I would call the first day, first hour of your 7 mos. booking timeframe.

Our family loves HHI, it's a great time for the whole family :)

WE have Minor League baseball here in Savannah. It's not a far drive and, while it is minor league, they do put on a great show!

Look up www.sandgnats.com for more info.

That would be an idea. Our 2 boys love baseball. We have a single A team here in South Bend- the Arizona Diamondbacks farm team. We go to several games thru out there season:thumbsup2

Keep an eye out on the schedule. It's lots of fun.

I think the Box seats are still only $9 and they'll run to the concession stand for you.
