What is the weather like in Hilton Head in October? Can we still swim in the ocean and the pool?

Yes, at least in early October the air temps are usually in the 80's and ocean temps are the same. Those temps will drop into the 70's towards the end of October. The pools are heated, so they would not a problem even in winter months.

Enjoy! :)

We were there this past Friday Oct 22. Keep in mind we had just left a week of 85+ degree Florida. We were told the ocean was warmer then normal this time of year because of the warm summer. My 8 yr old had no problem throwing himself into the ocean. I only saw a couple of kids in the water. I would not go in except up to my knees, too chilly for me. Pools were warm. There was a strong breeze so it was chilly getting out. I went in because it was the last day of vacation and I was returning to the cold northeast the next day. Otherwise I would have skipped the pool as well. I saw a few adults and all the kids in the pool.

We went for the first time last October 25-31. The weather varied a LOT from day to day. There were several spectacular sunny days in the high 70s, a couple of cloudy, rainy days in the low 60s, and the others were a mix. We enjoyed the pool on all of those days, but only walked in the ocean up to our ankles. When it was partly cloudy and windy, it was a little too cool to sit on the beach and read, but we thoroughly enjoyed both pools, and loved HH. We're hoping to return next May, and decided we'd plan to do earlier in October when we go in the fall.

This past weekend was beautiful. The ocean is a bit chilly but the kids didn't mind. The pool was perfect. But October weather is hugely variable. Could be in the 80's, could be in the 60's. Probably a little of both if you stay a week or so.

We just returned from a week at HHI and the weather was BEAUTIFUL! High 70s each day and sunny. BUT... the ocean was FREEZING!!! We only did the beach for a couple of hours for 2 days. My boys did not want to get in the water. It was COLD! We spent most of our time at the pool and those were perfect. Kind of like a tepid bath. We loved HHI!
