Hi everyone. We will be visiting Mickey this June and would then like to go to Hilton Head for 2 nights. We have friends in South Carolina and hoped to get 2 studios for a couple of nights. We would be there on Monday and Tuesday, but July 4th is later that week. I can't book until December, as HH is not my home resort. Can anyone tell me what getting a 7-month at HH is like? Am I dreaming? I already blabbed my plan to our Carolina friends and then it occurred to me there may be NO WAY! Have any of you tried to get HH during the summer? I can't really tell how big the place is...

Please advise...

Thanks!

You might have better chances if you go for a 2BR to share with your friends, rather than two studios. As you are probably aware, there are a very limited number of studios at HH.

If you call day by day at the 7 month mark, you might make it. Good luck.

I was NOT aware there were limited studios at HH. Thanks! You learn everything here on the Boards!

If HH doesn't work out, I will try to lure my friends for a day or two at OKW. I can afford those points...

Thanks.

I tried geting a studio for the third week of July at the 7 month window this year. I had no luck at all. However, I was put on the Waiting List. In May I was contatced that my wait on the Waiting List had paid off, and we got to go the week we had hoped for.

I will certainly put my name on the waitlist. Meanwhile, I figured out the points and I could certainly swing a 2-bedroom for just 2 nights, if one is available. Can anyone out there tell me what the rooms are like? Although laid out a bit differently, are they similar in size to Boardwalk or Beach Club? Also, are all the studios in the main building? I have only seen the photos in the DVC book. We live in Indiana and the thought of some time at the ocean is very nice!

Thanks for asking this question, as we will be shooting to get one night at HH next July.

The HH villas are larger than those at BWV, VWL and BCV. The floor plan is similar to all other DVC villas.

There are 21 studios and 16 of those are located in buildings 11 and 12 (the Lodge area). The other 5 studios are found beneath a GV at the resort.

Here is a HH Resort Configuration report.

Enjoy!

Thanks, Doc, for the great info. HH sounds wonderful, and I will get up bright and early to try to get ANY room on the 7-month day! I am going to print out your post in case I am lucky and get a room. If my daughter hears there may be dolphins, she'll want to skip Mickey and spend our whole week at HH! :)

Colleen,

Our DS7 prefers HH to WDW....watch out, it may become addicting to your family the same that it did to ours. We were able to book our first trip to HH at the 7 month window with no problem (tried for and got a 2 bedroom). I called every morning until our reservation was complete. Since we've added on, we'll be there every July. Have fun!

How far is Hilton Head from Mickey in Orlando? I am thinking about 5 or 6 hours. Also, any recommendations from you veterans about decent, close-by, FAMILY (ie, relatively cheap, clean, and tolerant of noisy kids) restaurants? I really hope we can get a reservation!

Hilton Head Diner was not bad. It's a family restaurant. It could be a longer walk from Disney or a short car ride. We found the food to be decent there and comperable in price to other family restaurants in our area.

I was able to book 5 nights at HH in July 2003 in a 2 bedroom just this week. July 4th week was not availabe, the the following week was.

Hilton Head is great. I love having this resort as my home! We stayed at HH for a few days last month and then drove to Orlando. It was our first time driving and it wasn't bad at all. As another poster said, it's about a 5-1/2 hour drive. We left HH about 9:30 and checked into OKW at about 3:30 that afternoon.

Eats: We enjoy eating at the Fuddrucker's that's down the street, the Hilton Head diner (down the street a bit in the opposite direction) and the pizza place that's across from Fuddrucker's in the same shopping pavilion with Piggly Wiggly. They all seemed family friendly to us. Have a wonderful time!

I believe the Pizza place near Fuddrucker's is Guiseppi's. We've ordered from there a few times, and they have delivered to the Villa. Add a bottle of chianti and the ambiance of a HH 2 bedroom and you have a great dinner for a very reasonable price!

Mmm, I wish I was there right now!

What, you got excited and already said something? Not you Colleen!! Hey we will be at BWV June 28-30 and Poly July 1-2. Will our pathes cross?

Jenny

Not if I see you first, Jenny!

Don't worry, everyone, I am only teasing because I actually KNOW this lady... and she knows me and everytime we meet at school we instantly talk Mickey and everyone else is like, "Huh?" This is the woman who told me to buy a Passporter (I love the thing!) and to get on the DIS Boards... :)

Yes, our paths hopefully will cross. We are booked at BCV the last week in June, from the 22nd through the 29th then 3 nights at Hilton Head. I can not WAIT. Too many years living in Indiana and never seeing the ocean... Perhaps we can rendezvous at the Grand Floridian and do the Afternoon Tea? Of course this involves leaving the kids with the men...

Wishing you a Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays to Everyone!

Colleen

We might want to do Long Island Tea at the Luna Park Pool! How fun...........we will be right across the water. You know my Marshall calls that the "Rotten Beach Club" (Yacht and Beach Club)!!!!!!!

Earlier this week I was able to book a second - 2 bedroom for July....so there is still some hope for those who want Hilton Head this summer (or at least there was!)......1 bedrooms and studios where all taken the week I asked about though...
