We booked a family vacation for the 3rd week of Feb. We already received a letter saying the beach house is going to be closed.

I think I read in another thread that some of the restaurants close in Jan or Feb. Is this true?

How much cooking should I plan on doing in our villa? What kind of food can we ecpect from Signals? (is that the name of the snack bar type place by the pool?

Please tell me we can still have a good time even though it will be February. Part of me is worried because our daughter is on a gluten and casein free diet so I will have that to contend with. I don't want to get there and have no place to eat.

Any other tips you can give me for HH in February would be great.

Thanks!:thumbsup2

Likely, many restaurants will be closed during this time, but HHI has so many restaurants nearby that it won't matter.

Signals is by the pool and it is mostly a poolside grille setup. What they serve is good for lunch mainly. They shut down at 5 pm so any dinner orders will have to be taken by then. This is not Disney's desire... this is what HHI imposed on Disney.

Still, as I said before HHI has an abundance of restaurants nearby. All this said, we prefer to cook for ourselves and just occasionally eat out. With your daughter's special diet it might be best to plan on making most of your own meals. I know many say vacation = not cooking, but frankly, sometimes it is actually easier to cook and eat-in than to go to a restaurant. Cheaper too.

February is going to be a cold month so don't expect to have fun on the beach or at the pool, but HHI is a cool place and there are a lot of things to do. The CMs at HHI are special and I am sure will have activities scheduled to make every day fun.

We have only been there twice, but we really consider it to be our nature getaway now. We love animals, and HHI has all kinds of wildlife everywhere.

Hopefully, (Webmaster) Doc will see your post and fill in all the blanks that I have left. Doc is (in my opinion) the foremost in information on HHI.

Good luck, and have a great trip.

We've been to HHI in February, and although we didn't go swimming, some people did. The pools are heated. I thought Signals was the one at the beach house, and Tide Me Over was by the resort pool. It closes before suppertime in February, at least it did when we were there. But as someone said, there's Fresh Market nearby and also Piggly-Wiggly, both of which have premade meals. When we went, all the recreation activities were offered in February, but not many people. I ended up with a one-on-one tour of the island. We went on the Dolphin tour in February and saw dolphins. If you love nature and wildlife, a trip to Sea Pines Forest Preserve is always nice-we go there at least a couple times a trip.
