We have been to Hilton Head for Summer Vacation and Spring Break. How is the weather and activities for the week of Thanksgiving? Would it be difficult to obtain ressies at the 7 month window? I have not had any problems at the 7 month window before so I am assuming November should be farely easy. We would be looking for a 2 bedroom again.

What do most folks do about Thanksgiving Dinner? Would it be hard to find a Turkey to cook if we were to arrive Sunday morning prior to Thanksgiving?

Are there different resort activities during that time of year?

The weather varies from warm to cool. We've been there for both including some rain! The activities are plentiful. I've only been during T'giving so I can't compare to other times but there is a lot going on during the week. The "biggies" are the Annual Turkey Bowl at the beach house and the campfire both on TG.

We have friends that book at the 7 month window and since they have made it all three years we have I assume it is doable. You might want to book day by day though.

The resort will provide a TG dinner but it is costly. I don't have my info anymore but it is over a $100. Some restaurants are open that day - the front desk will have this info. We've never had a problem finding TG food -- pies, rolls, etc -- on the Wednesday before so I can't imagine it would be difficult to get it even a few days earlier. There is a Publix and a Piggly Wiggly located fairly close to the resort.

We love going this time of the year!

The weather can really go either way...could be cold and rainy (40s) or could be warm and sunny (70). It was 70 here today (in Atlanta), and our weather is usually pretty close to HH/ Savannah.

I've heard great things about the resort's Thanksgiving meal...but I've also had one from Publix and it was excellent.

I just snagged a one bedroom this morning at Hilton Head for the week of Thanksgiving. I am going to take my mom as a way of saying, hey, don't cook, this year i am taking you to a great resort to relax. I hope she will go!! Ha Ha. I am assuming there will be lots for the kids to do, what about the grownups? Are there activities for not so active seniors?

We visited HHI for the first time last year over Thanksgiving weekend and everyone had a blast. It was a bit chilly to be in the pool, but the hot tub was nice. Lots of activities going on and everyone enjoyed just being together for Thanksgiving. We did purchase the meal through the resort and it was excellent! We paid for the weekend nights using the DVC discount instead of using points and we had no problem getting the points night at the 7 month window.

I got to looking and a two bedroom was only 20 points more for the whole time we are going to be there so I called back and changed my reservation to a two bedroom for 105 points for 5 nights. That is a great value in my opinion. I called Mom and she is on board so, now I have to sell it to hubby...Ha Ha.

Unfortunately, I can't be of any help because we've never been at Thanksgiving, but from what I hear it's great! When we were in HH in March, one of the CMs (at my request) described Thanksgiving at the resort-weather, food, touch football game-he made it sound like such fun. This year we already had plans to go to WDW, but I hope we get there some year. Everyone who goes-sounds great!

This all sounds great! I wonder, to anyone who has taken the dolphin cruise, how far in advance do you have to book the reservations?

Have you checked into a 2 bedroom on points for a Saturday night during the summer? 99 points :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: It sounds to me like 105 points is an excellent deal! :cheer2:

We've never been at Thanksgiving but I'd love to. I'm hoping one of these years we'll be there. I'm love hearing what everyone has to say.

Do you remember what the meal included and how much it was?

I'm calling MS in the morning to reserve the final night of our three-night stay at Thanksgiving. We've stayed at BCV (many times) and Vero Beach (once) and loved them both, but haven't tried HH yet. I'm really looking forward to it!

They didn't start taking reservations until about a week ahead of time. Our chosen day was rained out but we were able to reschedule for the next day. We had the boat all to ourselves so it was our own personal tour...it was AWESOME!

The basic price was around $120. You got to choose selections from different categories. I don't remember everything exactly, but here's an estimate:

1 main dish: ham, roast turkey, deep fried turkey
1 potoato: sweet potatoes or mashed with gravy
1 pie: pumpkin, pecan, apple
all include green bean casserole, rolls, butter

You can add extras for about $10 each. We added a second pie and had to have both sweet and mashed potatoes.

I was thinking, 120 is alot of money, but if it would feed six hungry people it might be okay. We are going to stock up on groceries for the room, but I have to get my Mother one of those deep fried turkeys! She would love that!

We were there for Tgiving last year (just two of us) and will be an extended family this year. The resort was full, but quiet.

We reserved last minute day by day and didn't get Wed and Thurs, (but days on both ends) so we spent those at the Westin, and they had a great buffet. Also, if you really want family style, the Cracker Barrel has a Thanksgiving dinner, just down the street.

The weather was pretty nice and we took walks on the beach and golf lessons with just a sweatshirt most days. I even pushed the envelope and wore shorts one day. Only one day duing the week was really cool, windy and rainy, but the rest were about 55 - 60 and sunny, not the same as August, but still nice coming from NY in November!

Regarding Thanksgiving dinner, we're planning on doing it at HH next year. Since we're just a 4-5 hour drive, it makes it easy. We plan on cooking our turkey the day before and go ahead and slice it and just take it in a cooler. Everything else we'll just take with us and cook there. Shouldn't really be a problem.

It fed our 6 and we still had leftovers.
