What airport is closest and what is the weather like in March?

TKS

Hilton Head airport is closest, but it's much easier to get flights into the Savannah airport. It's about an hour's drive from that airport to the resort. I would advise renting a car to enjoy the Island to the fullest. March weather can be iffy, but it's one of my favorite months to visit - about 65 degrees average and the flowers are beginning to bloom. Plus, it's not crowded then. Would be a good choice of time to go.

We are going in April. Savannah airport is 45 minutes away, however we found much better rates into Charleston (2 hrs away). We really wanted to spend a day in Charleston anyway.

Jacksonville, FL is another option at 2.5 hrs away. Southwest flys there, but from where you are in Ontario, that would mean flying out of Buffalo instead of Toronto.

Another consideration is Atlanta. Its a good 4.5 hrs away, but nearly all flights into SAV connect through Atlanta anyway, and when you add in the layover time, flight time to SAV, then the hour drive from SAV to HH, its almost quicker and easier (and often cheaper) just to take the direct flight to Atlanta and drive from there. Not to mention you avoid the possibility of missing a connection which isn;t unheard of in Atlanta.

Thanks I was trying to find a place where SWA or JetBlue fly, could not find Savana or Charleston.

Don't mind flying out of BUF, in fact prefer it.

Yes, both JetBlue (through JFK) and SWA (through BWI) fly from BUF to JAX. Airtran goes from BUF to SAV as well, I believe, connecting through Atlanta.

I'd love to hear opinions on Jacksonville Airport's convenience from anyone who's flown in there. How hard is it to get out of the airport area and onto the road? Any reports? We've flown only into Savannah and Charleston. Of the two, of course Savannah's more convenient, but we didn't really think that Charleston was too bad at all, definitely worth driving a little extra to save money. Easy to get in/out.

Jacksonville is very easy to fly into. The airport has a connector to the highway and is only a few minutes from route 95. The airport is north of the city of Jacksonville, so you do not have to go through the city to get to Hilton Head. Just head north on 95 and you will be in Ga in about 15 minutes and through Ga and into SC in no time.

We live in Ga and love Hilton Head. If you spend a day in Savannah and take a city tour, you will love it.
