Hilton Head during Christmas week

We own at OKW and VB but would like to stay at HHI during the Christmas season. Since we have to wait for the 7 month mark, I'd like to know how hard it is to get in at HHI at that time of year. Also, what are the type of activities, how crowded does it feel, etc. etc.?

We were able to make reservations for just after Christmas and across NYE this last year without any problems at about 6 months, but we wanted a 2BR unit, which HH has more of than any other.

When we arrived though, we were told that the resort was at 100% occupancy - but apparently most of the reservations were made by people only a few months prior.

The resort didn't feel crowded at all. They had a number of activities for younger kids (a southern snowball fight, fish painting, etc.) - not a lot for teens (that I recall anyway), though they did have a NYE party specifically for teens (with pizza and soda). THey also had the usual excursions running, such as the dolphin watch, kayaking, etc. The pool was open, and frequently on a sunny afternoon day, they would even periodically run the water slide.

We did this last Xmas, the resort was DEAD up to about 3 days before Xmas, when it apparantly became full ( I guessed this from the car park but the pool etc was still pretty quiet). The only activity that was over booked was the nature walk, but if you have a car this isn't really a problem as you can follow the resort bus to the island and join the group there.

The weather we had was wonderful, but it can be a bit of a mixed bag, they had snow the day after we left Charlotte !!!

Thanks Firefighter Mickey and vernon! I now have hope that we will be able to book that Christmas week! We wanted a 2br for most of it, so it sounds like we may be in luck! I realize that the weather is iffy at HH during that time of year, but I'm sure it will beat being here in NW Ohio!
