I have a list of Hilton Head restaurants I have been jotting down from reading some posts, but I never saw Hilton Head Diner mentioned. Is this any good? I saw it mentioned in an article. I'm trying to find laid back kid friendly places to eat.

Thanks!

It's close to the resort. It's a landmark, but not somewhere that I plan as part of my trips. It's kid friendly - booths and basic food choices. I've been there only once so I'm no expert. There's a HH restaurant thread around somewhere.

DD and I ate breakfast here before we played golf one morning last June. It was packed! But the service was fast and food was good. That was our first experience with smoking areas in a restaurant since it hasn't been allowed in a long time here in Seattle. My daughter was really shocked to see people smoking in a restaurant!

We love diners and HH Diner is a typical one with tons of menu items and lots of old fashioned pies and cakes. We always enjoy a visit (or 2) on every HH trip. It is definitely family friendly.

We've only eaten there one time-- it was okay at best. I can't imagine we'd ever return-- there are way too many better dining options on the island for our dining tastes.

Hilton Head Diner is a good example of how people's reviews/opinions differ. DH and I ate there once for breakfast. I thought the service was slow, food mediocre, resturaunt dirty. And I hated the sleazy timeshare guy who practically attacked us on the way out. We never discussed it, I just assumed DH felt the same. Much to my shock, he said on the last trip, "We should go back to the Hilton Head Diner sometime-I thought it was good."

Wow, were there alot of people smoking in there?

Probably no more than any other restaurant in HH. It was just our first experience with it and so it left an impression on DD. Just like I can remember when people smoked on planes but our kids don't so if they saw it, it is more shocking to them. :)

its typical diner. We liked our food, the people were friendly. We ate there for breakfast and one dinner. You could get similar food in your home town.

We will definitely not return to Hilton Head Diner. We went there on our first night on HHI looking for something quick and decent. It was neither.

We visit Hilton Head four or five times a years since we are only 85 miles away. My kids love breakfast at Stacks and Plantation Deli. The creme brulee french toast is great at Stacks and the Pebble Beach omelet at Plantation Deli is loaded with cheese and bacon. I am not a fan of omelets, but this one is wow. My son loves the chocolate crepe at Stacks. BTW-Everytime we have been there and ordered the pancakes, they were loaded with fresh fruit.

We are also not impressed with Hilton Head Diner. You can also go to restaurant.com and there are usually certificates for Stacks and Plantation Deli. You can also check out the menus online. Stacks is nonsmoking. I think Plantation Deli is too.

Sticky Fingers is also one of my kids favorite places. We plan on trying the one at Hilton Head in June. We love the one in Charleston.
