Is the Hilton Head resort being renovated in 2020 or something? I'm not a DVC member (yet) but have stayed there a few times, booking rooms off the shelf. I have tried MANY dates for a trip in 2020, but can find no availability for any of them. Just wondering if something is going on there, or if it is just that popular (more than in the past). My family has considered buying into DVC with HH as our home resort, but with no availability, maybe that's not such a great idea.

I don’t know when you are looking but DVC rooms are only released for cash at a certain time ahead,

In terms of DVC availability, and booking for members, it is a different inventory. So, as an owners, you’d be able to book your trips 11 months in advance,

In terms of renovations, i am not sure. I know there was some issue with Hurricane Dorian so it’s possible that is contributing to the lack of cash rooms available at this point.

And as an example, I am a HHI owner and had Mother's day weekend booked for a while but needed to add a night and just did today. So I have May 9-13 booked (just added the last night with non-HHI points). Summer books quick. Studios quickest. Many time Fri and Sat nights stay open for a while since they cost more points than weekdays (at HHI it's a bigger gap than the WDW resorts). I am able to add on at 7 months out often. ANd even booked a last minute, like night before, trip this year. We've stayed in a GV (I think there are only 5) over New Year's one time.

We are going down for our every-three-years Spring Break trip, April 5-10. We normally stay in a 1BR (135 points) so our 50 point contract is plenty, but in 2020, we are taking my sister and her family with us so we need a 2BR (155 points). I was able to book the first 4 nights at the 11 month mark and I planned to add the final night on when the 7 month window opened, using 5 of my AKV points. Unfortunately, I was so pre-occupied with our 2019 October trip, I completely missed the window and by the time I realized it, that night was completely booked:sad:.

All is not lost...my sister's family was planning on leaving early (Wednesday) so that they can spend few nights at the Biltmore on the way home so I didn't ruin any portion of their stay. I waitlisted the 2BR and also 1BR because it will just be the 4 of us for that final night. I have more faith in the 2BR (more availability) but figured that adding the 1BR too would increase our odds a little bit. I stalk the website, but not as much as I should. I am holding out a little hope for that waitlist to come through...but if it doesn't, I guess we will simply cut our trip short and I will have to find something to do with my "extra" 2021 HHI points.

We bought the 50-point contract specifically to use at HHI for Spring Break. The kids' Spring Break is always the first full week of April (it doesn't always coincide with Easter) so we know that we would stay Sunday through Thursday, simply due to the driving time. This is the second time I've had to waitlist a 2BR for a night. The first time was in 2013 and that one came through. I had a cash reservation back-up for that one, but not this time. I'm keeping my fingers crossedpixiedust:
