Hilton Head at 7 month window?

I was just wondering, how difficult is it to get a room at HH at the 7 month window? Does is depend on the time of year? The type or room? I was curious since we may have some points to use and we thought about going there. Thanks!

Hilton Head's busy season is from June - August. Spring Break and Thanksgiving also tend to be popular times.

Since there are only 21 Studios and 21 1BR Villas and 5 GV's, those do disappear quickly. There are often 2BR villas available within 7 months, but many have had success even with the more limited room types. There are 76 dedicated 2BR Villas.

The wait list does work and weekends are often available- year round- for all room types within the 7 month window.

If you're wanting a 2BR seven months from now you should have little problem finding something available.

Personal experience is that it is absolutely miserable to get in there during the summer months. We tried almost exactly at 7 month window for June. Actually asked for ANY 4 night period in a row for a 1 bedroom. Best we could get after trying several combos was a 3 day period with 2 of the 3 nites being on the weekend (yikes!). Waitlisted for a 4th nite and told them we would take it either before the 3 nites or after. It finally came through in May.

Don't know how difficult it may be at less popular times.

We have had no problem getting them at 7 months or less for the fall(excluding Thaksgiving) and during christmas week for a 2 bdroom. It is harder for 1 bdroom because there are fewer of these. It is extremely difficult at 7 months for Easter week and June, July and August, especially if you want Sun-thurs. We did get 3 nights in July 2002 (using points)and this year we got Mon and Wed (using points)in July and then paid for tues with member disocunt. If you are flexible on dates, it is possible for summer months, but not easy. We Purchased add-on at HHI in October 2002, just to have 11 months for summer months. We love the resort!

I've been successful twice so far in securing 1 week in a 2BR at HH at the 7 month window, of course you need to call day by day. Our first trip was in July, and our second was during Easter week this year. I am hoping for our 3rd success for our trip next April, but I can't call until my 7 month window in September. You will love HH, its absolutely fabulous and relaxing.

We were able to secure a 1BR at the 7 month window for May 23-27.

Our 1st trip was booked at the 7 month window. A 2 bedroom in July. We had no problem, although, this was 3 years ago.

Definately call day by day. Booking our 1st trip coincided with the Christmas Holidays so calling day by day wasn't that big of a deal.

We stayed there for Easter in 2003. Instead of taking my chances on the 7 month window, I found someone to trade with on the rent/trade board. If you have BWV points they are an especially good trade value because those wanting to stay at the BWV often want to get a standard view and know they can only get that before the 7 month window opens.

Just emntioning trading as an option if you don't want to chance it.

Just curious, did you also try waitlisting for a 2 bedroom for 4 nights in a row with no weekends in June? It would have been fewer points than 4 nights in a one bedroom including weekends. Maybe thats an option in the future.

THis is the kind of luck we are hoping for -- we want to get ressies for a 2BR for the Sun - Fri (Mar 27-Apr 1). THis is the week beginnig on Easter sunday. Hoping that if we call right on the 7 mos mark (and by virtue of trying for a 2br) we can get lucky! Failing that -- we'll try a few mos later for the Thanksgiving week timeslot. It's been a struggle getting my family to try this resort (WDW just keeps calling their names) -- I just hope I can make it happen! If this is a success, my next plan is to convince them to try VB and combine it with a trip to Kennedy Space center along the way...
