We are going to have some points left over this year, and I'm thinking of sending my parents to Hilton Head. I was thinking January. Is it too cold to go in January? And, what other costs am I going to incur with this? I'm assuming that a rental is a must. Is it necessary to have a car at the resort? Thanks for the help.

I have never been before, but we are going down this weekend as we have 25 points left to burn. This weekend the forecast is mid-50's during day and 30's at night.

Compared to Iowa, it is probably mild right now, but not beach bikini weather in January! Good news is we dont have any white stuff to shovel down here in SC!

You'll have to let me know how it is. I think January would be fun for them, but I don't want them to freeze.

While I guess you could survive without a car at the resort, I wouldn't recommend it.

There are some nice restaurants within walking distance and even a grocery store within easy biking distance, there is sooo much more that the island has to offer! Great restaurants, shopping, golf, sightseeing....I'm sure they will have a great time.

Just a little warning, there are some restaurants and shops that are closed in January -- but there are plenty more to choose from!

I'll be sure to let you know how it is! Also, we were able to get reservations for a studio pretty last minute...I just made the reservation on Tuesday!
