I can't find the post of the person who got the Hilton at Clearwater Beach through Priceline but I am wondering--it's been a while sice I've done Priceline and will the Hilton (great hotel by the way) be a 3 star or 4 star and how many hotels are on that rating in Pricelines system- anyone know?:smooth:

Do not go to this hotel!!!!!

DW and I just stayed there this past weekend. The staff was polite, and the beach and pool awesome, but the facility itself was more like a Budgetel than A Hilton.

The first room they put us in had inoperable A/C and the sink was literally falling off the wall. When I pointed out the A/C to the Bellman, he told us we should "wait a few minutes and see if it kicks on". (At that point the room was about 80 degrees and it was 10:30 at night!). They moved us then and there, but the second room was dark, old, and had beds that probably date from the 1960s.

Unless you are getting a Motel 6 price, or have no concern for quality, pass on this place. From what I saw, you would be better off at the Sun Spree, Adams Mark or Shepherd's Beach Resort. There are a couple of pricier places on Sand Key (a mile away) -- the Sheraton and Radisson.

Also, for good seafood, try the Hungry Fisherman in Indian Shores. Dopey name - great food and outta site decor.:Pinkbounc

I stayed at Shepards resort 2 yrs ago and it was nice, The have a band out by the pool. from 1:00 pm until 10:00 and you can sit and relax and enjoy them and the have a resturant attached and they have a great breakfast bar and and with a good price too. I never stayed at the others there.

Wow...I was at the Hilton Resort Clearwater Beach last week (priceline 3* clearwater beach zone) and I guess we had a better room. It did smell a bit musty when we first entered and I don't like smells but we decided that it is on the beach and in a humid area so that is just the way it is. The next day after housekeeping left, the odor was completely gone. She left us a nice rug type bath mat instead of the towel kind and a note telling us to have a nice day. On our first day we walked around to get oriented and the woman (Nora) that runs the kids club came out of her office when we walked by and gave us a nice explaination on their offerings and my kids warmed right up to her. We didn't use this service but if we wanted that type of stay we wouldn't have hesitated. Our room was a standard type hotel room and in decent shape. We had a 5th floor balcony view of a roof below but the ocean and white sand beyond that. The anti slip sticky thing in the shower/tub wasn't as white as it once was but it wasn't bad enough to worry about. One of the beds had a bottom sheet that didn't stay tucked on the corner. The first day we had gross coffee in the room but the second day we had a better brand. The pools were great but being on the beach we didn't spend too much time anywhere but the beach. It was on a wide beautiful soft white sand beach and really clear water. I have nothing to compare it too except a satisfactory stay at the holiday inn treasure island last year. The Hilton was a more resorty place, the Holiday Inn was fine but older. There are about $13. a day in parking and resort fees at the Hilton. Didn't mind that.

I received this hotel on a Priceline bid in late Nov. The facility was worn and not quite what I was expecting, but our room was clean and "adequate". I wouldn't be afraid to stay there again at a good price. I'm almost positive we were able to get the resort fee waived, as we didn't use the pool, coffeemaker, etc. Maybe it depends on who is on duty when you check out.
