So this quote from Obama sort of bothers me:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/06/01/puerto.rico/index.html

At a campaign stop in Mitchell, South Dakota, Obama congratulated Clinton for her win Sunday and praised her for being an "outstanding public servant."

"She is going to be a great asset when we go into November to make sure that we defeat the Republicans," he said

The bottom line is - the party machine has decided that Obama is their man. Its as simple as that - the supers will put him over the top - largely due to peer pressure, and the fact that those awful (my editorial comment) caucuses put him ahead in delegate counts.

And in a lot of cases - the supers will be going against the man who put them there (Bill Clinton).

I hope they know what they're doing........

As for me - a lot could change by November - but right now I feel that Hillary has earned at least the chance to be on the ticket as VP. I think Obama "disses" her at his own peril.

I am withholding my voting decision to see how this all plays out. I know I won't vote for McCain - so it will either be the democratic ticket - or staying home. I can live with staying home if it comes to that.

I have not watched the news all day...glad to here that she won big...although it was expected. But of course the OS will say...so what it wont count in the general anyway....

This election has been a big joke. It has been so unfair and so bias and gender related that I am ashamed in out DNC...it has been racially motivated.....and the fear of being so politically incorrect is a fiasco.

Reading through all of this is eye-opening. So the McCain supporters and OS are seeking our support? That would make sense but a few have an odd way of going about it IMO.

Great win for Hillary today! I was watching the results on CNN at a relative's house and they interrupted to go to an Obama speech. OK....

His remark sounds patronizing if ya ask me....why didn't he just tell her to go back into the kitchen where she belongs. That remark sound like he is saying that she is not the worthy one ...I am ....as he holds his head high thinking that....

He's just making one of his typical arrogant remarks. His arrogance is one of the reasons that I will not vote for him. The guy has already proven that he doesn’t have a clue how to handle foreign policy and I know his arrogance would get the best of him in any decision making. He'd probably manage to somehow start WWIII.

Isn't it something else that you come here to bash our candidate and then tell us to unite? :confused3

...and how selective they are as to which "RULES" are to be adhered too!:rolleyes1

OK, I know that the votes today don't really matter in the general but I'm still pleased. The lady still has her supporters.

I want to note that there are a few OS that have posted on the OS thread today that absolutely rule! I think that I tend to get so caught up in the negativity that I sometimes overlook the good things. I still refuse to argue about any of it but comments noted and appreciated.

Now back to the mess the party has created, I sincerely hope that they begin to work almost immediately on fixing this process. Maybe they can even bring DisUnc back if they quit acting like fools. :)

Sure always seems like he times it that way doesnt it..shouldnt it been Hillarys time and speech first....

The problem is we already know what they are going to do. They will go to Obama. Not because they want to but because the Party has more or less told them where to go for the good of the party.

Looks like it will be the first time in 30 years that I have not cast a vote....

and from what I have heard from other HS I know they will not vote Obama either. Pretty bad that I feel the worse of the 2 evils between McCain and Obama is Obama....

I listened to a discussion between some Hillary supporters today while out visiting. Yes, they were all women but of varying ages. They were talking about whether they could vote for Obama and the opinions varied. Some said absolutely not, some maybe and one certainly. I stayed out of the discussion of course since I still have my embargo on arguing in place. :lmao:

Texas will likely go Republican anyway but it's concerning. What would McCain be like if he won? I just don't know. :(

OK. so back to my "Obama bashing ways" which are really just me explaining why I don't like the man and simply can't vote for him....; you guys really should check out this article:

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,23643866-5013948,00.html

It's pretty pathetic that foreign journalists have to do the job of our biased American journalist during this election.

Interesting article - especially this part (ignore the "cult word")

But so far, the wild discrepancy between Obama's words and his deeds, and between his enormous ambitions and his minimal accomplishments, doesn't seem to have fazed his core supporters, who apparently suffer from a severe case of cognitive dissonance. Like cultists who rededicate themselves when the cult's prophecies have been falsified, his fans redouble their delusions in the face of his obvious hypocrisy.

That is because Obama, in the imagination of many of his fans in the public and the press, is both a deduction from what was - the failures of the Bush administration and the scandals of the Clintons - and an expression of what should be.

Guys, I came here to read this thread because I was curious about what you all were saying. My only observations are: where are all the positive Hillary comments AND are you sure you guys are democrats? I get the feeling that the Hillary supporters thread has been taken over by people who really NEVER would have supported her but are just here to bash Obama. I have many friends who are behind Hillary and NONE of them are well, anything like you all. They are true Democrats, excited by the chase, proud of the party, understanding of the process and may be disappointed at the final outcome but ready for the big fight. Peace.
Btw, if Hillary wins somehow, I'm campaigning for her. She's a wonderful person, great mind, would be a very POTUS. For the record, I'm for Obama because I think it's his time and I like what I see - balanced, levelheaded, gracious, wonderful representative of our country. We need healing. I think Obama will do just that if he's allowed and supported. Four years ago, I wanted someone other than Kerry. I'm a Democrat. I worked for him. I watched as the Rove machine beat him to a pulp. A year ago, I hoped that Hillary would be organized and strong in this primary season. She wasn't. Her campaigners made many big mistakes. It's a shame. I'm was a feminist and now I'm a humanist. It hurt me to turn from the woman candidate. I honestly felt it necessary. There was no kool aid. I don't ingest food dye. Sorry, to those real democrats on this thread. The rest of you are just wolves in sheep's clothing.

I agree with you 100%

I cant say I know all about McCain...but I am looking further into his issues due to the fact that he could become the next POTUS. From what I have read of his issues he seems more moderate.....I dont see him as Bush...I cant stand Bush and never could....and that is a nice way to put it. I dont see McCain as another 4 years of Bush.

Yes he is a REP ...and in many ways that goes against my grain. But there are to many things about Obama that make me uneasy. I was going back and forth and getting stressed about my feelings of Obama and voting for him anyway. Than the new REV came into the equation and that was it for me....that made my decision. That was the last straw.

I am convinced we need him to not get in and run again in 4 years when we know more about him and who he is and what he believes.....and to the OS...no I dont want to read his book...geeeh

No, McCain is definitely not Bush. I never believed that. If I felt he was Bush I would already be actively campaigning against him in every way possible.

However, he's a hard one to figure out. For example, I find his current environmental platform very interesting. That's an important issue for me so I did my research. However it doesn't appear that he's done much if anything in that area in the past so what does he really believe?

Thats what I am looking into. There are some issues that I agree with with him but not enough to vote for him. If not for all of Obamas ties and his mentors...as in plural....I would have been able to pull the lever for him even if it meant me holding my nose. I am saddened but relieved that I am not in distress anymore about my decision on what the heck to do....I feel like this last REV has set me free. I am saddened that I do not feel as I did in the beginning of how we all felt so so blessed. However I do feel better than I felt last week before I was undecided on what the heck i would do.

I thought I was decided but I need to do a lot more research. I don't feel comfortable with any of it yet so we'll see.

I worry most about the war since I have a 15 year old son and also that McCain could be another Bush. Eck, just the thought of more Bush makes me want to run screaming into the night. :faint:

I am ashamed of the DNC as well.
Yes, this election has been racially motivated, in my opinion as well.
Who brought the issue of race into play?
One of the things I am noticing is that the fear that I immediately developed right after the Rev. Wright issue is the same fear that minorities have had to deal with for hundreds of years in this country. The bottom line is that it seems many are scared to trust Obama because he and his wife hate white people.

I do not believe they hate Whites. I do, however, know they feel the pain of what it is like to be discriminated against. I have a friend who is black. She has a degree from Columbia University. Grew up in an upper middle-class black family. Highly sophisticated. She lives in the south now. I was with her one day in a grocery store when I watched a lady grab on to her purse when she saw her walking down the isle. I could only imagine my friend's pain. what did she do to deserve to be judge because of the color of her skin? Unfortunately, however, this is the type of prejudice minorities have been feeling for years, and many do not want to vote for Obama because they are fearful this is going to happen to them? I wonder.......

I watched many use this type of ignorance to play on the minds of the voters. and it has worked.

I think it is very hard for many to understand.

I am not in fear that if Obama becomes out next POTUS he is going to become some Dr. Evil who is going to hand over the control to the minorities of the world? But this is what is going on in the minds of many people I talk to. This pains me to no end.

Like I said, I am going to vote for whomever wins the DNC. I am not going to vote for McCain because I fear Obama's church's defensive racial rants. I really doubt that Barack Obama is the David Duke of Black America. Do you think that if he were Caroline Kennedy and others would be backing him? Don't you think they knew all about him way before this election started?
