Obama say's "You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin," Obama said. "Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest. "

So what is it?

Honestly I couldnt care less...BUT it shows his utter contempt for his audience, not to mention he is a BIG FAT HYPOCRITE!

As I stated a Billion times on these threads...I DONT CARE WHAT OBAMA HAS TOO SAY ANYMORE! He as shown his elitist, condeceding attitude and what a flippen lier he is, way too many times for me to even remotely consider him as a serious contenter...EVER!

He is a CON artist, a fake, a phoney, a flim flam man, New Millenium snake oil salesman! He roles into town and tells people whatever they want to hear. Tells um "We got trouble right here in River City". And how his supporters dont see this is beyond my comphrehension.

I still am waiting from alllllllllll the people that Obama has helped from his past...They are STILL so noticeably absent from his campaign!

The whole "It doesn't matter if my clothes are dirty, Mom, people should like me for me" argument is childish on his part.

And no, it isn't a symbol of anything. It's nothing more than cover for people who claim patriotism while doing things that couldn't be more UNpatriotic. Did McCain wear a flag pin while voting against laws banning torture? Did Bush wear one to McCain's birthday party while New Orleans was drowning? What did their pins say about them? Are they "patriots" because they wore the pin?

As for DisUnc's post, it would have been nice if he'd actually included the entire quote:

Said Sean Hannity: "Why do we wear pins? Because our country is under attack!"

Frankly, I think I'll stay on the side that disagrees with Sean Hannity and Laura Ingram.

For a group that spends so much time reading the many pages that Obama has spent years compiling on his website, it's funny that it is so difficult to read and comprehend what is being said on this one little thread.

What were the actual Democratic leaders of New Orleans and Louisiana wearing while their people spent 3 days in that horrible environment? Social order collapsed in a way that was completely unanticipated, but those realities can't be discussed, just blame the President. If my state had a massive disaster I would look first to our local cops and firemen, then to our county, then to the governor and eventually expect the Red Cross and other aid groups to come and help out. The last thought in my mind would be about the President of the USA flying over and shedding a tear, or of him personally directing the helicoptors/food/ice etc. Good Grief. The whole blame DC thing was POLITICAL, and you have apparently bought what was so easy to sell. It was the only reason the Democrats won the mid year election like they did. Do you suppose they may have hyped it just a little for their own gain?

I personally think that all levels of government failed New Orleans. However Bush is the only one those of us who do not live in New Orleans have any say so over. We can't elect new people down there but we can at least show our dissatisfaction with him and Fema and anyone that would follow in his footsteps.

I agree with what you are saying, it's just that some people take it way too far. There was/is a level of pure hatred that just makes no sense.

Barack Obama spoke infront of over 12,000 people at that Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The place was packed to capacity. I saw so many people that I know. There were Bosnians, Asians, black, white, hispanics. Young, old. I am going to tell you - it was moving to say the least.

Hillary spoke last month I believe at DuPont Manual High School gym. I wanted to hear her speak, but I did not get there to see her. I found out too late.

It all depends on what you want to see happen that you think that a candidate can deliver. I would like to see all of this ugly racism end. I would like for people to have faith and come together. Trust is earned over time. Obama has been too new in the political arena, for most people to trust him.
Yes they all lie. There are different kinds of lies.

But some lies personally effect me and my sense of values and well being. Some lies are just candidates stretching the truth, and really make no difference whatsoever.

It all depends on what you want to see happen that you think that a candidate can deliver. I would like to see all of this ugly racism end. I would like for people to have faith and come together. Faith belongs in church NOT the government. I need my leaders to KNOW what they are doing, not "believe" or "have faith" in what they are doing. That is how we are in the mess we are in today.

Most excellent observations. But it doesn't matter the party. The blame properly belongs with Louisana state government and the NO mayor. They just happen to be Dems.

I so agree with this. Have you read the book Our Endangered Values by Jimmy Carter? I know...most of you will probably say he was not an effective President. But I believe he is a very good man and he makes some wonderful points about the slippery slope of mixing religious beliefs with government.

The reason why we are in this mess today is because the higher powers in politics took control, and decided they were going to do what they wanted to do, and got the others in congress to go along with them because there was something in the "golden pot" for them as well.

Unfortunately, you will NEVER know what is really going on in politics. You will only be made to believe you know what is going on. Now that is the truth.
You will never have the control. politicians are there to let you think you are in control. The reality is way bigger than you can ever imagine.

Faith is not about church. Many think that. Faith is about having the belief that something can be done - even against all odds at times. Then acting upon it and making it work. Negotiating, getting bills passed. helping people to see the reason why change is needed. Not worring about how many shares of stock a company is going to make for their own selfish needs.

Both Hillary and Barack KNOW what they are doing. Why would you think otherwise? Do you think the democratic supporters are supporting them because they do not know what they are doing?
This does not make sense.
